Canopy Tours

An 30 minute aerial tram ride takes you to the start of your zip-line adventure. From the tram and throughout the zip-line experience, you're going to see the rain forest's incredible beauty! Your guide is there for your safety, and is also a fount of information about the flora and fauna you might see!
 
Price: Adults expect to pay $101 - $150 for cruise line excursions that combine with a tram ride.
 
Booking Advice: Cruise line descriptions indicate that this excursion is considered to be difficult. The tram and canopy excursion takes about 8 hours. Because you'll be in a rain forest, insect repellent, a dry change of clothes, and plenty of water are recommended.

Tour the Countryside and Experience a Bit of Culture!

This 5.5 hour long excursion takes you on a tour of Costa Rica's beautiful terrain en route to and from the Espiritu Santo Coffee Plantation. You'll see how coffee is grown and prepared, and also explore an old home that shows how Costa Ricans once lived. The tour does include a visit to Sarchi as well.

Booking Advice: Three of the 5.5 hours of this excursion involves your transportation to and from the plantation. This excursion is considered to be at a moderate activity level, but past guests do indicate that anyone with knee problems or walking issues might find it difficult to walk at the plantation.

Tropical Mangrove River Cruise

On this river tour, you'll experience the mangrove forests of Guacalillo Estuary as well as those along the Tarcoles River. Home to a variety of species, you might see crocodiles, macaws, hummingbirds, cuckoos, egrets, herons, and Panama Flycatchers. This excursion is rated as easy.

Booking Advice: This excursion will take a bit less than five hours. It's important to note that wild birds, crocodiles, and other indigenous life forms are not pets and do not necessarily make command appearances. There are consequently no guarantees that you will see these various species. Fresh fruit will be served, however, and you'll see some lovely terrain regardless!

A Uniquely Wonderful Off Road Adventure

For this excursion, your transportation is provided by a GMC Terra-X6 adapted for touring. It boasts comfortable cloth seats in a 2004 bus cabin, a gangway with handrails, 11 spotlights, and fantastic windows for panoramic views. Then you're off to explore secondary roads in the mountains, open woods, an ocean vista, and cattle ranches. Passing through villages and this spectacular open country, you'll have a memorable glimpse of Costa Rican culture! This excursion takes about 4.5 hours.

Booking Advice: This excursion is rated as easy on the activity level scale, but it is an off road adventure there are a few physical restrictions. Children under the age of 8 can not participate. Once again, indigenous wild life are rather whimsical about making appearances. This excursion gets great reviews from past guests!

Explore Costa Rica by Train, Coach, and Boat

A bit of Costa Rican history, the old Pacific Railroad, transports you through villages and the countryside to Ceiba (of tropical fruit fame). From there, a coach takes you to your boat for your tour of the Tarcoles River. On the boat ride, you can enjoy soft drinks, beer, and tropical fruit as you travel through the area. Exotic birds, iguanas, and crocodiles might be spotted along the way.

Booking Advice: Guides on this excursion receive great reviews, and are described as informative and considerate. Once again, the indigenous wild life may or may not decide to appear. This excursion has an easy activity level;, and takes a little less than 5 hours.
