Here are some popular sights and attractions you may want to check out if you choose to not do a shore excursion and explore Mazatlan, Mexico on your own:
  • Museo de Arqueologia de Mazatlan
    This museum chronicles both the post and pre-Hispanic life in the area. The collection at this museum is small but there is still a very interesting array of artifacts and contemporary art.
  • Plaza Monumental
    This is by far the best place to catch a bullfight. Here you will experience a traditional sport with a rich history dating back nearly 900 years. Events are held here every Sunday and holidays from mid-December through Easter.
  • Acuario Mazatlan
    One of Mexico’s largest aquariums with over 200 varieties of fish and sea life. You will find the colorful, diverse life of the Pacific. Tanks with sharks and crocodiles are a huge hit as well as the botanical gardens and playground. Perfect for tourist of all ages.
  • Isla de la Piedra
    Enjoy unspoiled natural beauty and a lot of privacy when you visit Isla de la Piedra. Here you will find miles and miles of deserted, pristine beaches, coconut groves, and hiking paths outlined with lush vegetation. You will find a few open-air restaurants available for dining.
