Portofino Restaurant Guide

While in Portofino, it may be helpful to note that dining here can be expensive. That said, these folks enjoy their light olive oil, pinenuts, walnuts, and chestnuts, and basil, and (not surprisingly) have the distinction of coming up with pesto. Look for pansotti, which is cheese and herb stuffed ravioli in a sauce made from walnuts. Tomato based seafood stews are also popular! 

Popular Restaurants in Portofino: 
 
Ristorante Puny, located at Piazza Martiri dell'Olivetta 5, boasts some awesome views, and entrees that include veal, fish, salads, and pastas. It's one of those places frequented by locals... which is ALWAYS a good sign. Average cost per person not including wine is around 35 USD. They do not take credit cards, so we do suggest you have Euros on hand. This restaurant is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays, and can be contacted at 0185-269-037.
 
Il Pitosforo, located at Molo Umberto I, 9, is a small place that's been around for 50 years. Operated by the Vinelli family, look forward to Ligurian cuisine on a menu that features local specialities. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and you can contact them at 0185-269-020.
 
Trattoria Concordia, at 4, Via Del Fondaco, is oft regarded as less expensive. Then again, you do need to keep in mind that you're in Portofino and expense is kind of a given... This trattoria is situated by the police station, and offers pizzas and local fare. You can contact them at 0185-269-207.

The official currency is the Euro. MasterCard, Diners Club and Visa are widely accepted, but many small establishments - shops and restaurants only accept cash. Travellers cheques are accepted almost everywhere.
