Most meals in Nevis consist of a wide range of vegetables with squashes and peas being most often utilized. While fresh fish is included in many of the meals Mutton is the main meat on the island and is prepared in a wide range from curried to creole style.

In the highlands above the Hamilton Plantation sits the Banana Bistro, located in a tropical garden and offering Caribbean cuisine at its best. Begin your evening with a Bertini, the house cocktail (akin to a passion-fruit martini). Main courses include bourdon marinated baby back ribs, Lamb shanks prepared Moroccan –style with garlic mashed potatoes, or one many Thia-style curries. Hours: Mon-Sat 5:30-9:30pm. Fitting its name, the Coconut Grove is located in a coconut grove on Nevis's best beach location and it boasts of having one of the best wine cellars in the Caribbean with a collection of over 4000 bottles. It also features some of the best cuisine on the island. Dishes like seafood napoleon or sliced flank-steak in a cabernet sauvignon-butter sauce top the menu. A dessert specialty is the crème brûlée, but the chocolate almond tart is also sublime.Hours: Tues-Sun noon-3pm and 6:30-10pm Main courses range in price from $27-$43 (MasterCard and Visa accepted) The Cocunut Grove is located at Main Island Rd., Nelson's Spring (off Pinney's Beach). If you enjoy West Indian dining while enjoying a beautiful ocean view than the Mango Restaurant is just the spot for you. Offering creative dishes using the spices of the island for their unique flavoring one can enjoy pumpkin soup with honey butter croutons. The Gallows Bay fish is a restaurant specialty and is served with organic vegetables or try the Jamaican rum sauce on the baby back ribs. A great side dish is the green papaya slaw. Hours: Wed-Mon 6-10pm Main courses range in price form $22-$35 (American Express, Discover, and MasterCard accepted). Mango Restaurant is located on Pinney's Beach. Kitts & Nevis. The official currency of St. Kitts and Nevis is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. U.S. Dollars are widely accepted. Those who choose to pay in U.S. dollars, however, should be aware that coins are not accepted on the island, and change will be given in Eastern Caribbean Dollars.Credit cards are widely accepted at major hotels, restaurants, other major services, but smaller operations may only accept cash or Visa and Mastercard.
