You can find many delightful dining experiences in Napoli, but please son't snub the pizza. Many citizens of this town are such absolute pizza purists, they won't even eat pizza in other parts of Italy... And if you HAVE eaten pizza in this country, you've probably experienced a kind of sorrow when you LEAVE Italy... that kind of grief that makes it impossible to order pizza back at home for (easily) at least a year! Naples has a MAJOR love affair with pizza! In fact, they even gave their region, Campania, acclaim for their creation of the Pizza Margherita (in honor of Queen Margherita back in 1889). Their use of fresh Buffalo Mozzarella on pizzas is also characteristic to their cuisine. Pastiera, limoncella after your coffee, and seafood dishes are also strongly recommended in Napoli! It's good to know that your terminal is quite near down town Naples, and while we're going to point out some great places to dine, this is one city that's fun to explore in the company of your friends on foot.

Il Garum, called so for a spice derived from fish from an old Roman recipe, is located at Piazza Monteoliveto 2A, Naples. Open for lunch and supper, this osteria features superb Italian (as in Neapolitan) seafood dishes at reasonable prices. Sit out on the piazza, and enjoy! You can contact them at 081 542 3228. Their hours are as follows: noon to 3pm, and from 7 to11pm Mon-Sat; noon to 3pm Sun.

Antica Pizzeria da Michele, at Via Cesare Sersale, 1/3, Naples, serves Pizza Marinara and Pizza Margherita ONLY! And the fact that they are respecting a family way of doing things and a fantastic recipe -both of which are over a hundred years old- pretty much speaks volumes. In the opinion of many, this is simply the best pizza in the universe! Prices are extremely budget friendly, and they are open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM Monday through Saturday. Not eating here is like forgetting to visit Naples! Their contact number is 0815539204, but most pizzerias don't require reservations.

Ristorante Pizzeria Da Donato Michele, at 26/28 via San Cosmo fuori Porta Nolana, is one of those family run places you find that are so precious that you keep coming back during your visit! Local wines, house specials, and Neapolitan cuisine prepared (literally) the way their mama cooked it! Pizza's on the menu, as are European dishes and other Italian entrees. Prices tend to be moderate. You can contact them at 081-287828.

The official currency is the Euro. MasterCard, Diners Club and Visa are widely accepted, but many small establishments - shops and restaurants only accept cash. Travellers cheques are accepted almost everywhere.
