Key West Restaurant Guide

Hailed as "the Conch Republic," Key West has the distinction of having one of the lowest rates of depression in the United States. -And what does that have to do with conch? Just about everything! Conch is part of the local diet attributed to this population's overall low "non-depressive mode." You'll find conch in fritters and in salads, and on the local high school's marquee... (The football team in the "Fighting Conchs.) When it comes to cuisine, Key West has well deserved fame for Key Lime Pies! You can even purchase key lime spice, which happens to be excellent on grilled meats! From seafood to basic home cooking, we suspect your going to love this island!

Pepe's Cafe and Steak House, located at 806 Caroline Street, describes itself as the oldest "eating house" in the Keys! Aside from this quaint attribute, it then comes to mind that venues like this stay in business for a long time for some very good reasons... Mostly, the food is good and they've had local support for decades! Open from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM, Pepe's serves basic but hot and filling traditional American breakfast fare, sandwiches and other lunch entrees, and a nice selection of dinner entrees that includes grilled or blackened fish, chicken, and steaks. Dinner prices are the highest, but tend to range between 11 to 30 USD. The "Steak Smothered in Pork chops" for two at 50 USD would be the only exception. B.O.'s Fish Wagon started 25 years ago from a truck. Now described as a "shack," this venue is noted for serving some of the best fried fish sandwiches around. It's a simple menu, with "Landwiches" and "Seawiches." It's going to be possible to get a hot dog or burger there for from betweem 4.74 to 9 USD. The "Seawiches" include the ever popular fried grouper and cracked conch, and you'll also find plates of entrees to include grilled scallops, Fried Soft Shell Crab, and Fried Fish of the day ranging in price from 11 to 24 USD. This is just good basic dining on some awesome friend fish where you can grab your beer, and sit down & relax Key West style! Mr. Jimmy Buffet has been known to come in here and perform in his Key West Margaritaville Cafe, and that is ALWAYS cool! -But even when he doesn't, you're going to enjoy some good food. Look for starters include conch fritters, peel it yourself shrimp, nachos, and fish spread. In addition to sandwiches and burgers, you'll find main course entrees such as Mahi Mahi, Teriyaki Steak, Ribs, Andouille Sausage, Crab Cakes, and Fried Chicken. It's Southern coastal fare, and it works! And you really can get a cheeseburger here! Open for lunch and dinner, the Key West cafe is located at 500 Duval Street.
