Manaus Cruise Destination Guide

Situated where the Rio Negro and the Rio Solinoes meet at the Amazon River, Manaus has had quite the history! It was originally formed as a fort in 1669, and rose to town status by 1832. Things really began to rock and roll turn-of-the-century-style when Manaus became the place (at the time the sole place) where rubber trees were located for the rubber required for the fast growing auto museum.

Most of the lovely European styled (and flamboyant) architecture you'll see from your Manaus cruise dates back to this time of the rubber barons. That industry went zip when an Englishman stole rubber seeds that were successfully planted elsewhere.

Ever stalwart, Manaus port is today considered to be one of the most influential cities in Brazil, and is capital of the state of Amazona. The Amazon, the rivers, and the town are all locations where excursions both fun and fascinating are to be found!
