The Carnival Magic's Cloud 9 Spa is one of the largest spas of any cruise line. This two deck spa includes standard day spa fare: massages, acupuncture, body wraps, slimming treatments, facial treatments, tooth whitening, steam rooms, and water therapies.

The highlights of the Cloud 9 Spa include the Thalassotherapy Pool and the Thermal Suite. There are also exclusive spa staterooms on the Carnival Magic with special privileges and amenities. The spa is managed by Steiner who is the leader in spa management for the majority of the cruise lines.

Of particular interest in the Carnival Magic's spa facilities are the couples massage room, a lanonium, a tepidarium, and oriental steam bath- part of the Thermal Suite, men's & women's steam rooms, a co-ed sauna, and a dry float bed (used in body wraps).

The salon on the Carnival Magic offers hair styling, cutting, coloring, eyebrow shaping, waxing, manicures, pedicures, and facial treatments. Salon services are available for gentlemen as well as ladies.

• Make certain to book any of Carnival Magic's Cloud 9 Salon and Spa menu of services early -- they tend to fill up quickly. Also, be on the lookout for discounts offered for making appointments on the first or second day of the cruise. If you can't make it the day of the discount or if they are full, ask for an appointment at the discount rate for the following day. It doesn't hurt to ask and more often than not, they will honor the discounted price.
• Spa treatments are pricey, so don't forget to watch for in-port specials.
• There will be drawings throughout the cruise for free services. Most of the time, you have to be there at the appointed time to win. It is worth showing up. This is especially true on sunny days in port where drawings may be offered before leaving port. Some people will still be off the ship and enjoying the sights. That will increase your odds of winning.
