Caribbean Princess Children's / Kids' Programs & Babysitting
In collaboration with Discovery Communications, Princess Cruises has redesigned their programs for children and teens. In addition to dance classes, theme nights, Lego building competitions, and other fun activities, children and youth can explore "myth busting' via science experiments, get involved in cake decorating, and become involved in immersive activities focused upon the cultures and eco systems at ports of call.
The Caribbean Princess offers kids' programs for ages 3-17. Youth groups are divided based on age.
-
The Treehouse - ages 3-7- Arts and crafts, video games, and story time are among the activities that occur around a padded tree. Yes, the kids can climb that tree, which also features a slide. The Treehouse also features a large TV and a juke box.
-
The Lodge - ages 8-12- Looks like a log cabin, complete with a fire place and plenty of cozy spaces for eight to twelve year old cruisers. The Lodge has a large TV for movies and video games and a foosball table.
-
The Beach House - ages 13-17- Just for teens, the Beach House has a dance floor, air hockey, computer stations, and video games.
Camp Discovery has centers for each age group aft on Deck 16 (Sun Deck). Age appropriate planned activities are provided throughout the cruise. Babysitting services from 10:00 PM to 1:00 PM are available at Camp Discovery. The fee is 5 USD per child. On Sea Days, Camp Discovery activities are open all day except for lunch time (Noon to 1:00 PM) and supper (5:00 to 6:00 PM). On port days, Camp Discovery is open to include lunch time.
Babysitting on the Caribbean Princess
There is no in-cabin babysitting on the Caribbean Princess. There are, however, evening programs available that will take care of kids so parents can enjoy the ship.
Caribbean Princess Children's / Kids' Programs Tips:
-
Princess has a Youth Security program in place. Staffs in their early 20's wearing the bright yellow polo shirts patrol the entire ship discouraging questionable behavior before it gets out of hand. Because of their age, there is more of a rapport developed between the younger age group than a policing force and it works. For those of us who are not in this age bracket, the "yellow shirts" are great for getting information and directions.
-
The staff is not allowed to change diapers, so if your child needs changing, you will be paged on the pager you are given when signing up for the program.
-
There is no in-cabin babysitting.

Sign up for all kids' groups is on the first night of the cruise. Check the Princess Patter for details.
