Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary
Best Cabins onboard the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas: staterooms on Decks 7 and 8.
Cabins to be wary of onboard the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas will be staterooms on Decks 3 and 6.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins onboard the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas

Deck 2

All of the cabins on the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas Deck 2 have cabins above them -- this means that they are typically quieter compared to cabins beneath the disco or sunbathing areas (the noise of moving deck chairs late at night / early in the AM).

  • Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas exterior and interior cabins 2080-2102 and 2576-2797 (in the stern / rear of the ship) may notice a bit of propeller vibration on Deck 2.
  • Cabins 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2500, 2502, 2504, 2506, 2600, and 2602 have portholes rather than windows on Deck 2 of the Splendour of the Seas.
  • Inside cabins 2727-2747 and 2777-2797 have row interior cabins on both sides, and are less preferable than other cabins on this deck.
  • Interior cabins 2083, 2085, and 2087 are roomier than standard and are wheelchair accessible.

Deck 3

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Many cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Deck 3 on the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas can be a good choice if you're looking for a basic stateroom with no balcony closest to the conference area. For many cabins on this deck, there could be noise issues. Just above on deck 4, from forward to aft is the theater, casino, bar areas, and the main dining room.

  • Cabins 3042-3064 and 3542-3560 are by the conference area, and elevators, which could be extremely handy for conference leaders and participants on Deck 3 of the Splendour of the Seas.
  • Forward, cabins 3000-3012 port side and 3500-3516 starboard are closest to the stage.
  • Interior cabin 3511 is right next to a public bathroom and could be noisier as a result.
  • Other interior cabins to be aware of include rows 3717-3727 and 3783-3795. These are all wedged between other groups of interior cabins on either side on Deck 3 of the Splendour of the Seas.
  • Cabins 3004-3050 and 3504-3550 are under the casino and bar areas. This means there could be after hours noise.
  • Cabins likely to be affected by main dining room noise on Deck 3 of the Splendour of the Seas are 3087-3116, and 3583-3795. Keeping in mind most supper guests usually exit by 10:30pm, there could still be noise from staff cleaning overhead as late as 11:30pm. Since most people don't return to their cabins until after 11:00pm, hearing noises (such as from vacuum cleaners) shouldn't be much of a concern. Breakfast is served from 7:30-9:30pm, so you might hear noise above from as early as 6:30am to 10:30am because staff are probably up there a good hour before and after dining hours for preparation and clean up. However, this shouldn't be a major early morning noise issue because many people go to Lido restaurants for breakfast.
  • We are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, but some of the worst cabins aboard the Royal Caribbean Spendour of the Seas are on Deck 3 because of the after hours noise from casino and lounge areas above. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on this deck, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 6

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning: Several cabins on this deck may have potential problems.
Along this entire deck, you should be aware that a main drag of the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas runs beneath your cabin, including the main lounge, shops, and main dining room.

  • Forward on Deck 6 of the Splendour of the Seas, cabins 6000-6014 and 6500-6514 are above the main lounge area. Interior cabins will be most affected by this (6001-6011 and 6501-6511). Again, if you're light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • Cabins 6061, 6561, 6069, and 6573 are next to public bathrooms, and this could also introduce a noise factor.
  • Ocean View Staterooms with obstructed views are 6120 and 6624 on Deck 6 of the Splendour.
  • Aft, 6102-6130 and 6606-6632 are over the main dining room. Interior cabins nearby (6107-6119 and 6611-6623) will be most affected by this. As mentioned, most supper guests usually exit by 10:30pm, there could still be noise from staff cleaning overhead as late as 11:30pm.
  • Best cabins on this deck are the nine Superior Ocean View Staterooms with balconies located aft on the Splendour of the Seas Deck (6122-6226). These balcony staterooms are more spacious than average, and have that precious (and less breezy) ocean view!

Deck 7

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

Deck 7 is a great location for a stateroom on the Splendour of the Seas! On decks above and beneath are cabins, which provide a buffer from the noise generated from public areas. Staterooms on this deck, including interior accommodations can be more spacious than those found on previous decks. This deck is also arranged to feel roomier because the cabins, including those inside, are not cramped together. If an interior cabin is most comfortable budget-wise, or if you are looking for a bit of luxury on your cruise, this is a great deck to explore!

  • All exterior cabins are Superior Ocean View Staterooms with balconies on Deck 7 of the Splendour of the Seas!
  • Deck 7 of the Splendour of the Seas offers Superior Interior Staterooms (7029-7049 and 7529-7549) which have over 40 sq. ft. more space than standard interior cabins.
  • Cabins 7083, 7085, and 7087 are more spacious than other standard interior cabins and are wheelchair accessible.
  • Aft, Superior Ocean View Staterooms 7126-7626 have larger balconies, all the better to afford the best (and least breezy) ocean viewing on Deck 7 of the Splendour of the Seas.

Deck 8

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

Deck 8 is arguably the high-rent district of the ship. The best cabins onboard the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas are generally on Deck 8. This is where the penthouse or Royal Suite, the Owner's suites, and Grand Suites are located. Given that this is where the high-dollar cabins are, this is also where the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Sea's best cabin stewards are usually assigned. So, if your budget only affords you an inside cabin, an inside cabin near a penthouse might be a very wise investment!

  • While you are in the luxury zone on Deck 8 of the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas, bear in mind that you are also just beneath Deck 9 which is Lido Deck. Luxury minded travelers need to know that suites including exterior Royal Family Suites, Grand Suites, and Junior Suites (8010-8032 port side and 8510-8532 starboard) as well as interior staterooms (8011-8025 and 8513-8525) could have after hours noise from the pool areas just above, such as the scraping of deck chairs when staff are cleaning. Interior cabins numbered in this area would be the most affected by the after hours cleaning in the Lido Deck, so budget minded cruisers will likely be happiest with inside cabins more forward on this deck, or as aft as possible.
  • Best picks for an interior cabin on Deck 8 of the Splendour of the Seas are Superior Interior Staterooms 8071-8079 and 8571-8579. These are larger than average and well situated aft of the ship under the spa area of Lido Deck.
  • Great choices for luxury aft on Deck 8 of the Splendour of the Seas are Royal Family Suites 8032 and 8532. In addition to being among the most spacious suites available on the Splendour of the Seas Deck 8, these two suites also have bountiful balcony space and have incredible views of the ocean! These family accommodations sell out very quickly so we suggest you book one as early as possible. There will most likely be a minimum number of people required to reserve one of these suites.
  • Aft, seven Junior Suites (8080-8580) are a bit roomier, and have larger than standard balconies affording that highly sought after (and less breezy) ocean view!
