Ocean Princess Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary

Cabins to wary of onboard the Ocean Princess: staterooms on Deck 4 and 6.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins onboard the Ocean Princess

Deck 3

Ocean View Staterooms on Deck 3 of the Ocean Princess are going to be fairly quiet. Generally, most of the cabins have Deck 4 cabins above, which buffers noise from public areas. The public areas above the the few staterooms farther aft are not as rule noisy places, such as might be the case with a bar featuring live music and dancing.

  • There are only 15 staterooms on Deck 3 of the Ocean Princess.
  • Of these, only four don't have cabins above them, but the Ocean Princess reception area directly above 3025- 3031 is not likely to present noise issues.

Deck 4

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.
While Deck 4 cabins on the Ocean Princess do have public areas above them, these staterooms are well situated to avoid most of the noise issues which can stem from being under lively places at night such as the forward lounge featuring dancing, and the casino.

  • Forward on Deck 4 of the Ocean Princess, exterior staterooms 4000- 4003 are closest to being under the lounge and bar area. There could be some late night noise issues. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • On Deck 4, exterior staterooms 4022- 4044 port side and 4025- 4043 starboard are under the general area of the casino. However, these cabins are not directly under this area, and will probably not have to contend with much in the way of noise. Most affected by this location will be inside cabins 4035 and 4038 because these two staterooms are under the casino. Again, light sleepers who desire inside cabins may wish to locate one on another deck on the Ocean Princess.
  • Staterooms 4052, 4056, and 4035 are designated as wheelchair accessible.
  • Exterior staterooms 4046- 4056 port side and 4045- 4055 starboard are most aft of this cabin section on Deck 4 of the Ocean Princess. With shop areas above, these cabins are likely quieter than other staterooms on Deck 4 of the Ocean Princess.
  • Some of the worst cabins onboard the Ocean Princess are on Deck 4. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks which will be quieter.

Deck 6

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.
Staterooms on Deck 6 of the Ocean Princess have the main drag of Deck 5 directly beneath, so there could be noise from some of the public areas even into the wee hours. That said, many of the cabins have been situated away from the noisier venues and it is possible to find comfortable accommodations which afford peace and quiet.

  • Forward on Deck 6, Penthouse Suites 6002 and 6003 each have 583 sq. ft. of interior space and a 283 sq. ft. balcony on the Ocean Princess. We do caution that, unless there is a tailwind, these are going to have very breezy views of the ocean.
  • Forward, ocean view staterooms 6004 and 6005 have roughly 30 sq. ft. more interior space than average!
  • On Deck 6 of the Ocean Princess, exterior staterooms 6006- 6028 port side and 6007- 6031 starboard, and interior cabins 6010 and 6011 are over the main lounge area, which does feature music and dancing. Travelers in these cabins may be able to hear noise very late at night. As mentioned, light sleepers may want to find a cabin elsewhere, bring along earplugs, or invest in a wave machine.
  • Most of the cabins on Deck 6 of the Ocean Princess are not situated above the casino area, but obstructed ocean view staterooms 6037, 6039, 6041, and 6043 are close to that area and could have late night noise concerns.
  • Aft, balcony staterooms 6063- 6071 port side are above a bar area and could have noise issues on Deck 6 of the Ocean Princess.
  • Also aft on Deck 6 of the Ocean Princess, exterior cabins 6078- 6090 port side and 6073- 6093 starboard are located above the main dining room. These accommodations include Owner's Suites 6088 and 6091, each with 583 sq. ft. of interior space and a 283 sq. ft. balcony. Owners Suite 6088 port side is directly over the dance floor in the main dining room. There could be noise during dining hours and during the clean-up after each meal. For dinner, the last diners usually exit by 10:30 and there is likely to some noise from the clean-up (vacuum cleaners) as late as 11:30. Given that most people don't get back to their cabins to after 11 PM, this shouldn't be a substantial issue. Breakfast typically starts in the main dining room at 7:30 AM, so, you might hear some noise below starting then. But, few people go to the main dining room for breakfast, so this should not be a major issue.
  • Some of the worst cabins onboard the Ocean Princess are on Deck 6. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks which will be quieter.

Deck 7

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!
Deck 7 of the Ocean Princess is the only one with cabin decks above and beneath which buffer noises from public areas. Staterooms and suites on Deck 7 are likely to be quieter than most of the others to be found on this ship! Some of the best cabins on the Ocean Princess are on Deck 7!

  • Forward on Deck 7, Penthouse Suites 7004 and 7005 each have 583 sq. ft. of interior space and a 283 sq. ft. balcony on the Ocean Princess. We do caution that, unless there is a tailwind, these are going to have very breezy views of the ocean.
  • Forward on Deck 7 of the Ocean Princess, ocean view staterooms 7006 and 7007 do not have balconies, but have more square footage than average balcony staterooms.
  • There are over 10 inside staterooms on Deck 7 of the Ocean Princess, and this is going to be a nice, quiet neighborhood! If this is your preference, we do recommend the interior cabins here
  • There are several balcony staterooms (7008- 7112 port side and 7009- 7117 starboard) on Deck 7 of the Ocean Princess!
  • With 583 sq. ft. of interior space and 283 sq. ft. balconies, Owner's Suites 7114 and 7119 are among the most luxurious accommodations on Deck 7 of the Ocean Princess, and have that highly sought after aft view of the ocean which is typically far less breezy!
  • Aft on Deck 7 of the Ocean Princess, balcony staterooms 7116 and 7121 are between the Owners Suites and have that same majestic ocean view!

Deck 8

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!
On the Ocean Princess, Deck 8 actually features fewer of the high rentĀ luxury suites, but does offer plenty of mini-suites from which to choose. Some of the best cabins on the Ocean Princess are on Deck 8!

  • There are several mini-suites from which to choose on Deck 8 of the Ocean Princess (8000- 8022 and 8026- 8062 port side and 8001- 8025 and 8029- 8065 starboard). Each of these has 260 sq. ft. of living space and a 70 sq. ft. balcony.
  • Forward on Deck 8 of the Ocean Princess, suites 8000 and 8002 port side are in a relatively quiet area, because the internet cafe on Deck 9 is directly above.
  • Forward, the starboard suites 8001 and 8003 are under the fitness center, which could be a source of noise during the day but is likely not a late night concern on the Ocean Princess.
  • Least recommended staterooms on Deck 8 of the Ocean Princess are interior cabins 8028, 8031, 8034, and 8037 because the bandstand is overhead, and this could produce noise issues at night.
  • Cabin 8046 is designated as wheelchair accessible.
  • Mini-suites 8008- 8044 port side and 8009- 8047 starboard, and inside cabins 8012, 8014, 8015, 8017, and 8028- 8039 are underneath the pool area on the Ocean Princess. Staff clean this area after hours, so it could be possible to hear noise associated with that, such as the scraping of deck chairs, when these are moved about.
  • Toward the back of Deck 8 of the Ocean Princess, mini-suites 8048- 8062 port side and 8051- 8065 starboard are underneath the lido buffet and casual dining areas. This is likely not a source of late night noise, but there could be concerns before 7:30am when staff prepare for breakfast, and after 11:00pm when staff are cleaning this area.
  • Aft, Owners Suites 8064 and 8067 are the most spacious accommodations on Deck 8 of the Ocean Princess, and have majestic (less breezy) views of the ocean.
  • Two balcony suites, 8066 and 8069, are nestled between the Owners Suites. They will have that beautiful aft ocean view and be near incredible service!
