Norwegian Breakaway Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary

Cabins to be wary of on the Norwegian Breakaway are on Decks 5 and 14.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on the Norwegian Breakaway

Deck 5

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Many cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Deck 5 is right beneath several major public areas on the Norwegian Breakaway, including the theater, the casino, bars, and restaurants. This could mean some noise issues for many cabins.

  • Forward on Deck 5 of the Norwegian Breakaway, Oceanview Staterooms 5100 through 5138 port side and 5700 through 5738 starboard are underneath the Breakaway Theater and Spiegel Tent area, so there could be potential noise issues generated from these venues before, during, and just after performances. Inside cabins from 5101 through 5131, 5401 through 5455, 5701 through 5731, and 5403 through 5451 are directly beneath these venues, where noise issues are likely more of a concern. Oceanview cabin 5140 is under public restrooms, so there could be noise issues in this cabin as well. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • Starboard cabins 5180 through 5240, 5183 through 5233, and 5603 through 5653, and port side cabins 5780 through 5840, 5783 through 5833, and 5605 through 5655 are all under public venues that include the Comedy Club and main dining rooms. Again, we suggest looking for a stateroom elsewhere, bringing along ear plugs, or investing in a wave machine for light sleepers are under restaurants. There could be noise during dining hours and during the clean-up after each meal.
  • The best cabin choices for Deck 5 of the Norwegian Breakaway are Oceanview cabins from 5142 through 5178 port side, and 5742 through 5778 starboard. All of these cabins are beneath public venues that are not likely to be major sources of noise.
  • Some of the worst cabins on the Norwegian Breakaway are on Deck 5. While we are not suggesting that this deck be avoided, you will find more quiet cabin areas on higher decks!

Deck 8

Forward on the Norwegian Breakaway Deck 8, there are inside cabins, mini suites, and balcony staterooms. The cabin deck above does help buffer noise from public venues, but the Breakaway Theater is beneath. Noise concerns are usually reported by guests who have staterooms beneath such venues, but we can not rule out the potential for some noise before, during, and after performances.

  • Inside Staterooms 8100, 8700, and 8403 share walls with staff service areas. Consequently, noise could be an issue in these cabins when staff are busy.
  • Balcony Staterooms 8110, 8112, 8710, and 8712 have larger than standard balconies. The downside to these balconies is the fact that over half of the balcony space of each will not provide privacy.
  • Mini suites 8114- 8134 port side and 8714- 8734 starboard have larger than standard balconies. However, over half of the balcony space of each will not provide privacy.
  • Port side, mini suite 8136 and balcony staterooms 8138- 8180 are above the Breakaway Theater. Noise could be problematic during performances and rehearsals. The same holds true for starboard side cabins (mini suite 8736 and balcony staterooms 8738- 8780).
  • The following staterooms have balconies that can be seen from the Waterfront. These cabins are 8176, 8178, 8180, 8780, 8778, and 8776.
