Best Cabins onboard the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas: staterooms on Decks 6, 9, and 10.
Cabins to be wary of onboard the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas will be staterooms on Decks 2 and 8. If you are an avid Royal Caribbean fan but have never been on the Monarch of the Seas, be forewarned that all of the staterooms and suites are smaller than accommodations on other classes of Royal Caribbean cruise ships.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins onboard the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas

Deck 2

Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.
Some of the cabins on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas Deck 2 have cabins above them -- this means that they are typically quieter compared to cabins beneath the disco or sunbathing areas (the noise of moving deck chairs late at night / early in the AM).

• All exterior ocean view cabins have portholes rather than windows.
• Aft on Deck 2 of the Monarch of the Seas, staterooms 2620-2646 and 2120-2146 are under the main dining room area. Most affected by possible noise will be interior cabins 2623-2645 and 2123-2145. Keeping in mind most supper guests usually exit by 10:30pm, there could still be noise from staff cleaning overhead as late as 11:30pm. Since most people don't return to their cabins until after 11:00pm, hearing noises (such as from vacuum cleaners) shouldn't be much of a concern. Breakfast is served from 7:30-9:30pm, so you might hear noise above from as early as 6:30am to 10:30am because staff are probably up there a good hour before and after dining hours for preparation and clean up. However, this shouldn't be a major early morning noise issue because many people go to Lido restaurants for breakfast.
• All of these staterooms (2620-2646 and 2120-2146) are also likely candidates for propeller vibration because these are in the stern or rear of the Monarch of the Seas Deck 2.
• Interior cabins 2507 and 2007 are larger than standard and are wheelchair accessible.
• We are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, but some of the worst cabins aboard the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas are on Deck 2 because of the main dining room area above. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on this deck, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 3

Because there are cabins above and below most staterooms on Deck 3, there is a buffer zone which decreases noise from the public venues on the Monarch of the Seas.

• All Exterior cabins have portholes rather than windows on Deck 3 of the Monarch of the Seas.
• Cabins 3616 and 3116 are closest to the main dining room and could have noise issues. Reserving a cabin farther forward on Deck 3 of the Monarch of the Seas might be a consideration.

Deck 4

Deck 4 of the Monarch of the Seas is another of the quieter locations to reserve a cabin, because there are staterooms above and beneath. All of the cabins on this deck are located from forward to midship, and have easy access to guest relations and the centrum area.

• Least preferred cabin on Deck 4 of the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas is exterior cabin 4098 because it is right next to public bathrooms.
• Inside cabins 4591 and 4091 are next to the main staircase on Deck 4 of the Monarch of the Seas. While this might be extremely handy for some, be aware that there could be some noise concerns.

Deck 5

If you want to be near the action, Deck 5 of the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas might be a great place to reserve a cabin. You will have easy access to the centrum shops, the bar and casino, and the aft main lounge. With staterooms above and beneath you, a cabin on this deck is also going to afford some peace and quiet as well!

• Exterior stateroom 5598 is right beside Ben & Jerry's on Deck 5 of the Monarch of the Seas. While this is a great location if you're passionate about your ice cream, there could be some noise issues during the day.
• Cabin 5098 is next to the General Store, which could introduce a noise issue during store hours, but not during after hours.
• Interior staterooms 5595 and 5095 on the Monarch of the Seas Deck 5 are next to the main staircase, and could be noisier as a result.

Deck 6

This is a great deck for a stateroom on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas because cabins are directly over and under you, and there are no public venues nearby which might introduce an after hours noise factor!

• Forward on Deck 6 of the Monarch of the Seas, Ocean View Stateroom 6506 is oddly shaped and likely a bit more spacious than standard.
• Interior cabins 6593 and 6093 are closest to the stairs and could be noisier than other staterooms on this deck.

Deck 7

Deck 7 could be a great location for a cabin if you are presenting or attending a conference because you are within walking distance to the conference rooms and center. The lounge, located more aft on this deck of the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas, does feature dance music. This is likely not a big noise concern because all of the staterooms are located forward on this deck.

• Exterior cabin 7032 has an obstructed view.
• Forward on the Monarch of the Seas Deck 7, Ocean View Staterooms 7504 and 7004 are oddly shaped and a bit more specious.
• There are only nine inside cabins on this deck. Of these, 7547 appears to be the smallest. Any of the remaining eight would be more preferable.
• While there are not many inside cabins on Deck 7 of the Monarch of the Seas, the upside is the fact that these cabins are not jammed together which yields a more spacious feel to this area!

Deck 8

Deck 8 on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas could be problematic for many cruisers. Underneath some of the cabins on this deck, a main lounge which has dance music could create some after hours noise when many travelers are back in their staterooms to rest up for the next day.

• All of the staterooms are exterior cabins, and all of them have obstructed views. If you want an ocean view, you will need to choose a different deck!
• Forward on Deck 8 of the Monarch of the Seas, cabins 8538 and 8038 are right by elevators, so these are likely to be noisier than other staterooms.
• Staterooms 8572-8588 and 8072-8088 are right over the main lounge and most likely to have noise issues as a consequence.
• Aft, staterooms 8596 and 8096 could be noisier because these are closest to a public bathroom area and the elevators.
• We are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, but some of the worst cabins aboard the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas are on Deck 8 because of the lounge and dance club beneath. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on this deck, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 9

On the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas Deck 9, accommodations are more spacious. Also, because all of these staterooms have cabins above and beneath, there's going to be a bit more peace and quiet on this deck.

• All of the cabins on Deck 9 are Superior Ocean View Staterooms, and these are 35 sq. ft. larger than standard. Because all of the accommodations on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas tend to be smaller than average, the extra space in the cabins on this deck is worth considering.
• Cabins 9508 and 9512 have obstructed views.
• Staterooms 9534 and 9034 are roomier than others on this deck, and are wheelchair accessible.
• Staterooms 9536 and 9036 are right next to elevators and could be noisier.
• Aft on Deck 9 of the Monarch of the Seas, cabins 9582 and 9082 are nearby public bathrooms and may have a resulting noise issue.

Deck 10

Deck 10 is arguably the high-rent district of the ship. The best cabins onboard the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas are generally on Deck 10. This is where the penthouse or Royal Suite, the Owner's suites, and Grand Suites are located. Given that this is where the high-dollar cabins are, this is also where the Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Sea's best cabin stewards are usually assigned.

• While you are in the luxury zone on Deck 10 of the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas, bear in mind that you are also just beneath Deck 11 which is Lido Deck. Luxury minded travelers need to know that the Royal Family Suite and Junior Suites (1549-1588 port side and 1050-1088 starboard) could have after hours noise from the pool areas just above, such as the scraping of deck chairs when staff are cleaning.
• There are no interior cabins on Deck 10.
• Deck 10 of the Monarch of the Seas is the only deck featuring balcony accommodations.
• The Royal Family Suite 1549 on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas Deck 10 is a mixed blessing. With 371 sq. ft. of space, this suite is rivaled only by the Owner's Suites and the penthouse or Royal Suite. The Royal Family Suite also features the largest balcony to be had on this ship. The fact that this Royal Family Suite has two walls in common with the elevator and it is closely situated under the Lido pool area might make this suite noisier than others of its kind on other Royal Caribbean ships. However, this is the only Royal Family Suite to be had on the Monarch of the Seas so it is likely in high demand. If you wish to book this suite, we advise you do so as early as possible. Royal Caribbean may specify a minimum number of guests in your party to reserve this suite. Past guest reviews do describe noise issues in this suite from the Jade restaurant above it!
• Junior Suites 1050 and 1550 are also right next to elevators and could be noisier than others on Deck 10 of the Monarch of the Seas.
• Aft, Junior Suites 1588 and 1088 are nearest to the elevators. There could be some noise during the day from the youth activity center at the rear of Deck 10, but we do think this is a major concern. Youth activities do not run after hours, and the location of this center is distant from the aft cabins.
