Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on board the Emerald Princess

Deck 5 -- Plaza Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Several staterooms on Plaza Deck are beneath busy public venues on Fiesta Deck to include the Princess Theater and the casino. We do not recommend a cabin on this deck for light sleepers.

  • Forward on Plaza Deck of the Emerald Princess, Ocean View Staterooms P202- P226 port side and P201- P225 starboard are under the lower level of the theater. Noise generated from this area could occur during performances and rehearsals, and from staff prep work and tidying up before and after shows. Interior cabins in this area which will be most affected by the theater are P212- P228 and P215- P227.
  • Cabins in relatively quiet locations on Plaza Deck are P230- P242 port side, P229- P241 starboard, and Interior Staterooms P232- P240 and P231- P239. These accommodations on Plaza Deck of the Emerald Princess are under the vicinity of the Conference Center.
  • P248- P304 port side and P247- P303 are beneath public bathrooms. Noise -such as hearing water rush through pipes- could be an issue when these restrooms are busy.
  • Port side, Ocean View Staterooms P206 and P208 are across the hall from the self service laundry. Noise and heat could be problems in these staterooms when the laundry is busy.
  • Interior stateroom P212 shares a wall with the laundry, so noise and heat could be issues in this cabin as well.
  • Staterooms under the casino on Deck 5 of the Emerald Princess are P304- P336 port side and P303- P333 starboard, and inside cabins P318- P340 and P319- P327. These cabins might have after hours noise issues. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • Cabin P340 is wheelchair accessible.
  • Several of the worst cabins on board the Emerald Princess are on the Plaza Deck. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks in which it will be more quiet.

Deck 8 -- Emerald Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Along this entire deck, you should be aware that the Promenade Deck of the Emerald Princess is right beneath your cabin. Noise could drift up from the theater, and lounges and bars which include the main lounge. Some of these venues feature live music and have dance floors, so there is a likelihood of after hours noise concerns. Also, Princess does offer good bargains for staterooms with obstructed views, and the windows in these exterior cabins do provide ambient light. However, if you are looking for a clear view of the ocean, you may want to confirm your preference when reserving a cabin on this deck!

  • Forward, E102- E118 port side and E101- E119 starboard have windows that can be seen from the Promenade Deck Upper Level. Keeping the curtains drawn for privacy is likely worthwhile in these Ocean View Staterooms is advised.
  • On the Emerald Princess Deck 8, there are several cabins (E120- E223 port side and E121- E223 starboard) above the upper level of the theater. There could be noise generated from performances and rehearsals, and the before and after show when staff are either preparing for a show or cleaning up after one.
  • With the exception of E704 and E703, E120- E708 port side and E121- E707 starboard are all obstructed view Ocean View Staterooms.
  • Cabins E301- E304 are wheelchair accessible.
  • Starboard, Ocean View Staterooms E307- E409 are in a relatively quiet area on Deck 8 of the Emerald Princess.
  • Port side, E308- E326 are above the Wheelhouse Bar. Noise could be an issue in any of these staterooms late into the evening.
  • Port side, E404- E420 are above Crooner's Lounge. Noise could be an issue in any of these staterooms late at night.
  • E502- E518 port side and E501- E519 are above the Explorer's Lounge. Noise from that venue could be problematic until late at night in any of these cabins.
  • There are few interior staterooms located on Deck 8 of the Emerald Princess, and we suggest that you look for an inside cabin on another, higher deck to avoid noise issues.
  • Inside cabin E712 is located by an elevator and could have resulting noise issues.
  • E710- E734 port side, E709- E735 starboard, and interior staterooms E712, E716, E715, and E719 are all above Club Fusion. Noise late into the evening could be a concern in any of these staterooms.
  • Aft on Deck 9 of the Emerald Princess, Vista Suites E732 and E733 each have on average 329 sq. ft. living space and with a 166 sq. ft. balcony. They are the largest suites on Deck 9 of the Emerald, and have that beautiful (and less breezy) aft view of the ocean.
  • Balcony Staterooms (E734 and E735) are right next to the Vista Suites on Deck 9 of the Emerald Princess, and will have that same highly sought aft view of the ocean.
  • Several of the worst cabins on board the Emerald Princess are on the Emerald Deck. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks which will be more quiet.

Deck 9 -- Dolphin Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

On the Emerald Princess, Dolphin Deck staterooms have the advantage of cabin decks above and beneath, so there's a buffer zone from the noise generated from public areas. These accommodations are likely more quiet than those on the lower decks! All of the exterior cabins on Dolphin Deck have balconies, but we do caution you that these balconies are not covered, and you can be seen from decks above.

  • Forward on the Dolphin Deck of the Emerald Princess are Family Balcony Suites D105 and D106. Each boasts up to 606 sq. ft., including the balcony. Given their forward locations on Deck 9 of the Emerald, be prepared for a rather windy view (unless there's a tailwind). Family cabins are in short supply and are very popular given their attractive sleeping arrangements. They sell out very quickly, so it is best to book early to get a family cabin.
  • Port side mini suites D118 and D120, starboard mini suite D119, and interior staterooms D116, D117, and D123 are near a crew area. Noise from that staff area could be a problem in any of these cabins.
  • There are 30 interior cabins on this deck, and this is a great location for most of them. If you are interested in an inside cabin, we do suggest considering one on Deck 9 because these will be more quiet than those you can find on lower decks of the Emerald Princess. Among the least recommended are D712 and D711 because these inside cabins are right next to elevators and will likely have resulting noise issues. D720 and D721 are not recommended because these share walls with the self service laundry; noise and heat could be issues in these staterooms.
  • Mini suites D722 and D723 are across the halls from the self service laundry. Noise and heat from the laundry could be concerns in these cabins.
  • Cabins D304, D308, D703, and D707 are designated as wheelchair accessible.
  • There are several mini-suites with balconies from which to choose on Deck 9 of the Emerald (D110- D732 port side and D109- D733 starboard). These have 277 sq. ft. of interior space and 46 sq. ft. balconies.
  • Balcony Staterooms D732 and D733 have larger than standard balconies.
  • Aft on Deck 9 of the Emerald Princess are Vista Suites D736 and D737. Each has up to 495 sq. ft. including the balcony. They will also have beautiful (and less breezy) aft views of the ocean.
  • Premium Balcony Staterooms D734 and D735 are right next to the Vista Suites on Deck 9 of the Emerald Princess, and will have that same highly sought after view of the ocean.

Deck 10 -- Caribe Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Caribe Deck of the Emerald Princess is clearly one of the best decks for a stateroom or suite. Its location between two cabin decks provides a sound buffer from public areas, which is always desirable, and the balcony staterooms and suites here are covered, which gives you more privacy!  Some of the best cabins are on Caribe Deck of the Emerald Princess!

  • The best located balcony staterooms and suites, in our opinion, on Caribe Deck of the Emerald Princess are C104- C250, C406- C418, C510- C530, C618, C622, and C714- C750 port side, and C103- C251, C327- C419, C509- C531, C619- C623, and C715- C751 starboard.
  • Forward on Deck 10 of the Emerald Princess, Balcony Staterooms C301- C304, are wheelchair accessible.
  • There are many interior staterooms on Deck 10, and all of them have that benefit of decks below and above. If you are looking for an inside cabin, this deck will be more quiet than some of the others to be found on the Emerald Princess.
  • Of the inside cabins on Caribe Deck of the Emerald, C312 is wheelchair accessible. However, it shares a wall with the self service laundry; noise and heat could be issues in this stateroom.
  • Balcony Staterooms C314 and C311 are across the halls from the self service laundry. Noise and heat could be problems in these cabins when the laundry is busy.
  • Interior cabins C711 and C712 are next to elevators, and this could cause noise issues.
  • C742 and C743 have larger than standard balconies.
  • Aft on Caribe Deck of the Emerald Princess, Vista Suites C750 and C751 each have up to 495 sq. ft. Including the balcony. The views from these balconies are phenomenal!
  • Penthouse Suites C748 and C749 each boast up to 531 sq. ft. Please note, however, that a vent between these suites emits noise and odors.
  • Also aft, two outside balcony staterooms, C752 and C753, located beside the Vista Suites, have wonderful (and less breezy) ocean views from larger than standard covered balconies.

Deck 11 -- Baja Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

Staterooms on Baja Deck on the Emerald Princess also have the benefit of cabins above and beneath which provide a buffer from the noises public areas can generate. All of the exterior staterooms on Deck 11 are cabins with balconies!

  • In our opinion, the best located balcony staterooms on Baja Deck of the Emerald Princess are B206- B250, B314- B418, B510- B530, and B714- B738 port side, and B205- B251, B315- B419, B509- B531, and B715- B739 starboard.
  • Balcony Staterooms B301- B304 are wheelchair accessible.
  • Balcony Staterooms B612 and B611 are across the halls from the self service laundry. Noise and heat could be problems in these cabins when the laundry is busy.
  • Inside cabins B711 and B712 are the only two interior staterooms not recommended on Deck 11 of the Emerald Princess. These are by elevators and could have noise concerns.
  • Of all the balcony staterooms on the Baja Deck of the Emerald Princess, B748- B756 and B757- B749 command highly prized (least breezy) great aft views!
  • Aft, there's a vent between Balcony Staterooms B756 and B757 that is the source of noise and odors.

Deck 12 -- Aloha Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Emerald Princess features two of the most luxurious suites on Aloha Deck, and this typically means that this is where the best cabin stewards are usually assigned. Having cabins above and below also makes this one of the more quiet decks on your cruise! Some of the best cabins are on Aloha Deck of the Emerald Princess!

  • The best situated Balcony Staterooms on Aloha Deck of the Emerald Princess, in our opinion, are A206- A250, A310- A418, A510- A530, A614- A622, and A714- A746 port side, and A205- A251, A317- A419, A509- A531, A615- A623, and A715- A747 starboard.
  • Forward Balcony Staterooms A203 and A201 and Interior Staterooms A204 and A202 are next to a crew area. Noise from this area could be a problem in any of these cabins.
  • Balcony Staterooms A301- A304 are wheelchair accessible on the Emerald Princess.
  • Inside stateroom A312 is wheelchair accessible on Deck 12 of the Emerald.
  • The self service laundry, when busy, can be a source of noise and heat in staterooms. Interior staterooms A628 and A629 share walls with this facility, and Balcony Staterooms A630 and A631 are across the halls from it.
  • Inside cabins A711 and A712 are next to elevators and may have noise issues.
  • Balcony Staterooms A746 and A747 have larger than standard balconies.
  • Aft on Deck 12, Owners Suites A752 and A753, each with up to 687 sq. ft. of living space, are the largest, most luxurious accommodations on the Emerald Princess! These will also have great views of the ocean.
  • Also aft and between the Owners Suites, Penthouse Suites A750 and A751 are also quite spacious with up to 531 sq. ft. Please note, however, that a vent between these suites emits noise and odors.

Deck 14 -- Riviera Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Except for staterooms located forward on this deck, the majority of cabins on the Riviera Deck of the Emerald Princess are under the Lido Deck pools, bar, and casual eateries.

  • The best located staterooms on Riviera Deck of the Emerald Princess are Balcony Staterooms R206- R250 port side and R205- R251 starboard, and inside staterooms R208- R252 and R207- R253.
  • The Riviera Deck staterooms and suites that are under the pools, Horizon Court, or Cafe Caribe on the Emerald Princess are R314- R748 port side, R311- R749 starboard, and inside cabins R312- R344, R315- R407, R508, R507, R514, R515, R712- R744, and R711- R745. Noise from the venues and pools above could be concerns in any of these staterooms.
  • Balcony Staterooms R301- R304 are wheelchair accessible on Deck 14 of the Emerald Princess.
  • Interior staterooms R711 and R712 are next to elevators and could have noise issues on the Riviera Deck of the Emerald Princess.
  • Twelve Penthouse Suites (R402- R412 and R401- R417) are located mid ship on Deck 14 of the Emerald Princess. Each boasts up to a total of 533 sq. ft.!
  • Interior stateroom R736 has a received a positive review for its good condition, its spaciousness, and its proximity to the Terrace Pool and Horizon Court.
  • Balcony Staterooms R746 and R747 have larger than standard balconies.
  • Aft on Riviera Deck of the Emerald Princess, Ocean View Staterooms R750, R748, R749, and R751 are nearby the Terrace Pool.

Deck 15 -- Lido Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Lido Deck features cabins in the most forward area of this deck on the Emerald Princess. While it's entirely possible to find a cabin on Lido Deck that is in a relatively quiet location, some of the staterooms and both luxury suites are under the fitness center, which can be a source of noise.

  • Forward on Deck 15 of the Emerald Princess, Premium Suites L106 and L107 are the most spacious accommodations on Deck 15 of the Emerald. Each has a very spacious balcony, but we advise that views from either are probably going to be a bit windy unless there's a tailwind! Strong winds, according to cruise guests of L107, also move the balcony furniture about which has resulted in some noise issues. Additionally, based upon reviews from cruise passengers, the metal railing on the balcony of L107 makes it necessary to stand rather than sit to enjoy the ocean view. Another potential concern for both of these suites is noise from the fitness center above them. Also, the balconies for both suites can be viewed from the bridge platform
  • Between the Premium Suites, Ocean View Staterooms L104, L102, L101, and L103 have obstructed views. Of these, L104 is oddly shaped and larger than standard. Please note that these staterooms are also under the fitness area, so noise could be an issue in any of these cabins.
  • Starboard, Balcony Staterooms L201- L223 are under the fitness center. Noise could be a concern in any of these staterooms as a result.
  • Balcony staterooms L311 and L312 are closest to the pool area. Finding a cabin farther forward on Lido Deck of the Emerald Princess might prevent any issues with noise.
  • Cabins L248 and L252 are wheelchair accessible.
