Carnival Splendor Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary

Best Cabins on the Carnival Splendor are staterooms and suites on Deck 7, 9, and 10.

Cabins to wary of on the Carnival Splendor are staterooms on Decks 2, 6, and 8.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on the Carnival Splendor

Deck 1 -- Riviera Deck

Cabins on Deck 1 of the Carnival Splendor have cabins above them -- this means that they are typically more quiet compared to cabins beneath the disco or sunbathing areas (the noise of moving deck chairs late at night / early in the AM). It should be noted that staterooms in the aft section of Deck 1 are above the ship's propeller systems; noise and vibration could be an issue in these cabins.

  • Forward, 1202 and 1206 port side, and 1201 and 1205 starboard are small interior staterooms. Each includes a twin bed, a single sofa bed, and two port holes.
  • 1210 and 1214 port side and 1209 and 1215 starboard port hole staterooms. Each has two port holes for ocean viewing.
  • 1218- 1446 port side and 1219- 1457 starboard are all Ocean View Staterooms.
  • Between 1256 and 1258 port side, and 1257 and 1259 starboard, there are staff storage areas. Noise when staff are busy could be of concern in these cabins.
  • Cabins 13531420, and 1431 are next to elevators. Noise could be a problem in these cabins when the lifts are busy.
  • Ocean View Staterooms 1414- 1446 port side and 1425- 1457 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 1420- 1450 and 1431- 1461 are in the aft section. Propeller vibration may be an issue in these cabins.

Deck 2 -- Main Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems

Many of the staterooms on Deck 2 on the Carnival Splendor are right beneath several major public areas on the ship, such as the main dining rooms the galley, and the main lounge. For this reason, we do not recommend the majority of these cabins to light sleepers.

  • Forward on Main Deck of the Carnival Splendor, please note that 2202 and 2208 port side and 2201 and 2207 starboard do not have port hole windows.
  • Forward, Ocean View Staterooms 2220- 2270 port side and 2221- 2271 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 2224- 2268 and 2225- 2269 are beneath the Spectacular Spectacular Main Lounge. Noise during rehearsals and performances could be an issue in any of these accommodations.
  • Port side, Ocean View Staterooms 2272 and 2274 are beneath public bathrooms. Noise -such as hearing water rushing through pipes- could be of concern in these staterooms.
  • Ocean View Staterooms 2276- 2286 port side and 2273- 2287 starboard are beneath relatively quiet areas on Deck 2 of the Carnival Splendor.
  • Ocean View Staterooms 2288- 2300 port side and 2289- 2301 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 2290- 2302 and 2291- 2303 are beneath The Splendor Lobby. Because this is a public area, noise could be a problem in these accommodations.
  • Ocean View Staterooms 2304- 2360 port side and 2305- 2363 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 2306- 2358 and 2307- 2361 are beneath staff service areas and The Black Pearl Restaurant. As a result, noise could be a concern in any of these cabins.
  • Ocean View Staterooms 2362- 2434 port side and 2365- 2437 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 2370- 2422 and 2373- 2425 are beneath the ship's galley. Noise from early in the morning until very late at night could be an issue in any of these cabins. These staterooms are least recommended for light sleepers.
  • Interior Staterooms 2436 and 2439 are beneath public bathrooms by a main dining room. Noise -such as hearing water rush through pipes- could be a problem in these staterooms.
  • Guest feedback regarding cabins 2458 and 2474 indicated that noise from the dining room above was minimal, but at times earplugs came in handy. Less pitching and rolling was noted in this cabin than in cabins on higher decks when it was windy. Vibration issues from the engine were noted, and guests indicated there were noise concerns when the Carnival Splendor docked from the wench and ropes. Guests indicated that 2474 was spacious, but stated the cabin had less closet space.
  • Ocean View Staterooms 2438- 2472 port side, 2437- 2473 starboard, and 2474- 2477 aft, and Interior Staterooms 2436- 2468 and 2439- 2471 are beneath The Golden Pearl Restaurant. Noise could be of concern in any of these accommodations.
  • On the Main Deck of the Splendor, the exterior cabins in the aft of the ship (2474-2477) all have unique aft-facing views that are quite picturesque.
  • While we are not suggesting this deck be completely avoided, some of the worst cabins on the Carnival Splendor are on Main Deck! If you are light sleeper, you may prefer a cabin elsewhere on the ship, or bring earplugs. You may also consider investing in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 6 -- Upper Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems

Along the entire Upper Deck, be aware that the main drag of the Carnival Splendor is right beneath your feet -- including some areas that stay fairly noisy into the wee hours. This includes the stage area, casinos, the dance club, and lounges & bars.

  • Forward on Upper Deck of the Carnival Splendor, 6206, 6204, 6202, 6201, 6203, and 6205 are Interior Staterooms with Picture Windows. The views from these windows are obstructed by a railing, and the walkway just beyond these staterooms could cause privacy issues.
  • On the Carnival Splendor's Upper Deck, Balcony Cabins 6207 and 6208 are slightly larger than average.
  • Balcony Staterooms 6208- 6216 port side and 6207- 6217 starboard are in a relatively quiet area on Deck 6 of the Carnival Splendor.
  • Balcony Staterooms 6218- 6266 port side and 6221- 6269 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 6224- 6262 and 6227- 6265 are over the Spectacular Spectacular Main Lounge. Noise during performances and rehearsals could be of concern in any of these cabins.
  • Balcony Staterooms 6268- 6284 port side and 6271- 6323 are above the Fun Shops. This is a relatively quiet area for a stateroom on Deck 6 of the Carnival Splendor.
  • Port side, Balcony Staterooms 6288- 6300 are over a sports bar. Noise could be a concern late into the evening.
  • Balcony Staterooms 6304- 6352 port side and 6331- 6379 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 6306- 6354, 6293- 6307, and 6333- 6381 are above the casino. Noise until very late at night could be problematic in any of these cabins.
  • Balcony Staterooms 6396- 6450 port side, 6431- 6485 starboard, and 6452- 6487 aft, and Interior Staterooms 6416- 6446 and 6451- 6481 are over busy lounges and bars. Noise could be of concern in any of these accommodations.
  • Balcony category cabins in the rear of the Carnival Splendor's Upper Deck (6452, 6454, 6456, 6491, 6489, and 6487) all have extended balconies and the highly sought after aft facing views.
  • Inside cabins 6360, 6387, 6416, and 6451 are right by elevators and may be noisier.
  • Staterooms 6450 and 6485 have the largest balconies to be had on Deck 6 of the Splendor!
  • While we are not suggesting this deck be completely avoided, some of the worst cabins on the Carnival Splendor are on Upper Deck! If you are light sleeper, you may prefer a cabin elsewhere on the ship, or bring earplugs. You may also consider investing in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 7 -- Empress Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Empress Deck on the Carnival Splendor features Ocean Suites and Grand Suites, as well as Balcony Staterooms and Interior Staterooms. There is also at least one deck of buffer both above and below this deck, so noise tends not to be an issue from common areas. Some of the best cabins on the Carnival Splendor are on the Empress Deck!

  • Forward on Deck 7 of the Carnival Splendor, 7206, 7204, 7202, 7201, 7203, and 7205 are Interior Staterooms with Picture Windows. The views from these windows are obstructed by a walkway and railing.
  • There are 36 Ocean Suites on Empress Deck of the Carnival Splendor. Each provides 275 sq. ft. with a 65 sq. ft. balcony.
  • Deck 7 also boasts ten Grand Suites. Each has 345 sq. ft. with an 85 sq. ft. balcony.
  • In our opinion, the best situated exterior staterooms and suites on Empress Deck of the Carnival Splendor are as follows. Port side, we recommend 7212, 7216, 7230- 7254, 7282- 7328, 7352, 7376- 7396, and 7410- 7446. Starboard, we suggest 7211- 7217, 7225- 7257, 7285- 7333, 7355- 7365, 7385- 7405, and 7427- 7455.
  • Starboard, 7339- 7343 are nearby the Self Service Laundry. Noise and heat could be concerns when the laundry is busy in these cabins.
  • Cabins 7336 and 7408 abut elevators and are probably going to be a bit noisy during peak hours.
  • Wonderful views are to be had from aft cabins 7440, 7442, 7444, 7446, 7455, 7553, 7451, and 7449 which also feature extended balconies on Deck 7 of the Carnival Splendor.
  • Aft on Empress Deck of the Carnival Splendor,  7438 and 7447 are Premium Vista Balcony Staterooms. Each has a 75 sq. ft. balcony!

Deck 8 -- Verandah Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems

With the exception of the cabins in the forward section of Verandah Deck on the Carnival Splendor, accommodations on this deck are beneath several very busy venues on Lido Deck. These include both pools, the stage, the Lido buffet, and bars and other casual dining venues. Most of the time, the most troublesome issues with noise happen when a cabin is beneath a public venue! Consequently, we do not recommend cabins aft of the forward section for light sleepers.

  • Balcony Staterooms 8202- 8284 port side  and 8201- 8285 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 8206- 8250, 8205- 8251, 8274- 8286, and 8275- 8287 are in a relatively quiet area on Deck 8 of the Carnival Splendor. If you are a light sleeper, we recommend these cabins on this deck.
  • Balcony Staterooms 8292- 8354 port side and 8293- 8359 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 8294- 8342, 8295- 8345, 8360, and 8357 are beneath staff service areas, bars, the Splendido Lido Pool and sunbathing area, and casual dining venues. Noise could be a concern in any of these staterooms.
  • On Verandah Deck of the Carnival Splendor, Balcony Staterooms 8356- 8416 port side and 8363- 8427 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 8364, 8361- 8373, 8384- 8412, and 8393- 8423 are beneath the Lido buffet. Noise while this very busy venue is open, and before and after dining hours when staff are cleaning and preparing food, could be of concern in any of these staterooms.
  • Balcony Staterooms 8418- 8454 port side through aft, 8429- 8465 starboard through aft, and Interior Staterooms 8420- 8444 and 8431- 8455 are beneath the Liner Pool area that includes a bar and two casual dining venues. Noise could be an issue in any of these staterooms.
  • Balcony category cabins 8446 and 8457 have larger than standard balconies.
  • Premium Vista Balcony Staterooms  8448 and 8459 have the largest balconies on Deck 8 of the Carnival Splendor.
  • The Aft View Extended Balcony Staterooms on Deck 8 of the Carnival Splendor are 8450, 8452, 8454, 8465, 8463, and 8461.

Deck 9 -- Lido Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

Looking for a cabin close to the pools and buffet that is also in a quiet location? Welcome to Lido Deck. In the forward section of Deck 9 on the Carnival Splendor, there are two Captain's Suites (the most luxurious suites on the ship), forward facing Scenic Ocean View Staterooms, two Junior Suites, Balcony Staterooms, and Interior Staterooms.

  • Forward on the Lido Deck of the Carnival Splendor, 9200 and 9201 are both Scenic Grand Ocean View Staterooms. Each will offer more than the average 220 sq. ft. and have amazing views from large picture windows.
  • Between the Scenic Grand Ocean View Staterooms are four forward facing Scenic Ocean View Staterooms. Each will offer 220 sq. ft. and have a large picture window.
  • 9202 and 9203 are Captain's Suites. Each will offer 500 sq. ft. of elegant living space with a 150 sq. ft. balcony.
  • Port side on Lido Deck of the Carnival Splendor, Balcony Staterooms 9268- 9272 are across the hall from the laundry area. Noise and heat could be issues in either of these staterooms when this self serve laundry is busy.
  • Balcony Staterooms 9274 and 9273 are across the halls from the elevator area. Noise from public traffic when the elevators are in peak use could be problematic.
  • While there are doors to suppress the sound from the pool area, cabins 9296 and 9295 are a bit close to the pool area and you may prefer to move further forward.

Deck 10 -- Panorama Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

While it's important to invest some careful thought when locating a cabin on Panorama Deck of the Carnival Splendor, this is the place where you can find spa staterooms and suites that provide you easy access to the fitness center, the Cloud 9 Spa, and all of the fun on Lido Deck!

  • Forward on Panorama Deck of the Carnival Splendor, Cloud 9 Spa Balcony Staterooms and Suites 1002- 1032 port side and Spa Interior Staterooms 1006- 1034 are beneath the fitness center. Noise while the center is open to the public and to staff could be of concern in any of these staterooms.
  • The best located staterooms and suites on Deck 10, in our opinion, are 1036- 1048 and 1056- 1064 port side, 1011- 1049 and 1057- 1065 starboard, and inside cabins 1009- 1047 starboard.
  • Balcony Staterooms 1066- 1084 port side and 1067- 1085 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 1082, 1076, 1083, and 1077 are beneath the Thunderball Pool area. Noise while the pool and slide are open could be an issue in any of these staterooms.
  • While there are doors to suppress the sound from the pool area, Balcony Staterooms 1084 and 1085 are a bit close to the Seaside Theatre and pool area. You may want to locate a cabin more forward on Deck 10 of the Carnival Splendor.

Deck 11 -- Spa Deck

On Deck 11 of the Carnival Splendor, all of the accommodations are Cloud 9 Spa Balcony Staterooms. From any of these cabins, you have easy accessibility to the spa and fitness area!

  • All of the cabins on Spa Deck of the Carnival Splendor are beneath Serenity. Noise -such as hearing deck chairs being moved as staff clean early in the morning, might be a concern in these staterooms.
  • 1102 and 1101 are next to staff areas in the spa. Noise might be an issue in these staterooms when staff are busy.
  • On Deck 11 of the Splendor, Cloud 9 Spa Balcony Staterooms 1116 and 1117 are slightly larger but are closest to the pool. Locating a Spa cabin farther back on the Splendor's Deck 11 may help alleviate noise.
