Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on board the Royal Princess

Deck 8 -- Emerald Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Some of the cabins on Deck 8 of the Royal Princess are located above Promenade Deck public areas which could generate noise. However, there are some sections of Deck 8 which will be relatively quiet. With some careful planning, it is possible to find a nice exterior stateroom on the Emerald Deck of the Royal Princess. Because the lifeboats are located port side and starboard, the views from the balconies of several of these outside staterooms will be obstructed.

  • E102- E110 port side and E101- E109 starboard have steel balcony railings that will obstruct ocean views. These balconies, however, are larger than standard.
  • E130 and E125 have larger than standard balconies that jut out.
  • E128 and E202 port side and E123 and E201 starboard are next to balconies that jut out. Privacy on these balconies could be an issue.
  • E208- E230 port side and E207- E231 starboard are above the upper level of the Princess Theater. Noise during performances and rehearsals could be an issue in these balcony staterooms.
  • E302- E306 port side and E301- E305 are above public bathrooms. There could be some noise issues when these bathrooms are busy.
  • Balcony staterooms E308- E424 port side and E307- E439 starboard are above shops on Promenade Deck. These cabins are in relatively quiet areas.
  • If you are seeking an inside cabin, we recommend looking for one on a higher deck. Most of the interior cabins on Emerald Deck of the Royal Princess do not have cabins above them, which buffer noise, and all of these cabins are above public venues on Promenade Deck.
  • E428- E438 port side are above a bar area. Noise late a night could be an issue.
  • E512- E524 port side and E501- E525 are respectively above Princess Live and Princess Live Cafe. These venues could produce noise that might be disruptive to light sleepers.
  • Starboard, E611- E627 are above the Wheelhouse Bar. Noise from this venue could be an issue as a result.
  • Port side, E702- E706 and starboard staterooms E701- E705 are above doors on Promenade Deck that are noisy when they open and shut.
  • E708 and E707 are across from the self serve laundry facility on Emerald Deck of the Royal Princess. Noise and heat when the laundry is busy could be concerns in these cabins.
  • E708- E732 and E707- E733 are above the Vista Lounge. Noise late into the evening could be problematic in these cabins.
  • Some of the worst cabins on board the Royal Princess are on the Emerald Deck. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks which will be more quiet.

Deck 9 -- Dolphin Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***

On the Royal Princess, Dolphin Deck is one of the best decks for a balcony stateroom or suite because the cabins above and beneath buffer noises from public venues. For this reason, we recommend Dolphin Deck for light sleepers.
