Norwegian Spirit Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary

Best Cabins on the Norwegian Spirit are on Decks 9 and 10.

Cabins to be wary of on the Norwegian Spirit are on Decks 6, 8, and 11.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on the Norwegian Spirit

Deck 4

The staterooms on the Norwegian Spirit's Deck 4 have cabins above them, which buffer noise from public venues. However, it's important to remember that the ship's engine and propeller systems are beneath this deck. While propeller vibration is not likely to be much of a concern, hearing a drone from the engine could be an issue.

  • Portholes in Ocean View Staterooms on Deck 4 of the Norwegian Spirit tend to be smaller in comparison to others on this ship.
  • During rough seas, there can be noise in forward located cabins on this deck.
  • Forward, inside stateroom 4479 is oddly shaped and quite spacious compared to other interior cabins on Deck 4 of the Norwegian Spirit.
  • Ocean view cabin 4498 is almost twice the standard size.
  • Least recommended cabin on Deck 4 of the Norwegian Spirit is interior stateroom 4577 because it is next to elevators and could have noise issues.
  • Aft on Deck 4 on the Norwegian Spirit, Ocean View Stateroom 4580 is by a tender door. Noise could be a concern in this cabin when that door is being accessed.

Deck 5

On the Norwegian Spirit's Deck 5, many staterooms have cabins above and beneath to buffer noises from public areas. Staterooms on this deck are worth considering for economy minded travelers!

  • Inside cabin 5035 is larger than average, but it's located by a stairwell. As a result, noise could be an issue in this cabin.
  • There are several ocean view cabins (5500- 5612 port side and 5000- 5100 starboard) from which to choose on Deck 5 of the Norwegian Spirit.
  • Aft on Deck 5 of the Norwegian Spirit, Oceanview Staterooms 5592- 5612 port side, interior cabins 5591- 5601 and 5091- 5099, and 5092-5100 starboard are under the general area of the smaller main dining room. Noise could be a problem in any of these cabins when staff are cleaning, and when this venue is open.
  • Starboard and aft, Ocean View Stateroom 5100 shares a wall with an area used by staff. Noise could be an issue in this cabin as a result.

Deck 6

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.

While it is very possible to find peace and quiet in a stateroom on Deck 6 of the Norwegian Spirit, there will be some sections to think twice about. Not everyone relishes the thought of being situated under the casino, for example, because there could be some noises to deal with late at night. However, there are some good cabins to be found on this deck with some careful thought.

  • Forward on Deck 6 of the Norwegian Spirit, exterior cabins 6500- 6530 port side, 6000- 6030 starboard, and inside staterooms 6503- 6519, 6521- 6533, and 6003- 6019 are under the casino, where there could be late night noise issues. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • Interior cabins 6535 and 6035 are much larger than standard, but may have noise concerns as these are next to stairwells.
  • Interior Stateroom 6035 is beneath a public bathroom area. Noise could be an issue in this cabin as a result.
  • Port side, Ocean View Staterooms 6532- 6582 and Interior Staterooms 6535- 6571 are beneath a restaurant and a bar. Noise could be of concern in these cabins as a result.
  • Interior Stateroom 6035 is beneath public bathrooms. Noise, such as hearing water rush through pipes, could be an issue in this cabin.
  • Starboard, Ocean View Staterooms 6038- 6076 and Interior Staterooms 6037- 6071 are beneath a bar and a restaurant. Noise late into the evening as well as early in the morning could be problematic in any of these cabins.
  • Aft on Deck 6 of the Norwegian Spirit, 6592, 6591, 6593, 6093, 6091, and 6092 are very near the main dining room. Noise could be a concern in these staterooms.
  • Guests in 6091 indicated that a consistent droning noise, which emanated from the engine, was a problem; they did not recommend this cabin for light sleepers.
  • While we are not suggesting this entire deck be avoided, the staterooms just mentioned are among the worst cabins on the Norwegian Spirit. There are better accommodations to reserve on Deck 6, as well as on other decks of this ship!
  • The rest of the staterooms and suites on Deck 6 of the Norwegian Spirit are going to be more quiet than those just described! Some of the best cabins on this deck are 6532- 6558 and 6576- 6590 port side and 6032- 6090 starboard. Inside cabins in these areas are also going to be more quiet.

Deck 8

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Most of the cabins on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Spirit are right above the forward bar and casino area, where there could be noise issues until very late at night!

  • The best cabins to consider on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Star are Ocean View Staterooms 8538, 8550, 8038, and 8050. These will be a bit more quiet because they are not over the casino bar area.
  • The rest of the staterooms (8500- 8536 port side, 8000- 8036 starboard, and all of the Norwegian Spirit's Deck 8 inside cabins) happen to be right over the bar and casino. Noise could be a concern in any of these cabins until very late at night.
  • If you are looking for an interior cabin, we suggest those on Deck 4, as well as cabin decks above Deck 8 of the Norwegian Spirit.
  • While we are not suggesting this deck should be entirely avoided, some of the worst cabins are on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Spirit.

Deck 9

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

On Deck 9 of the Norwegian Spirit, there are also several balcony staterooms and inside cabins from which to choose. Looking for a luxury suite? Two Owner's Suites and three Penthouse Suites, all of them with aft facing balconies, are here! Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Spirit are generally on Deck 9.

  • Deck 9 of the Norwegian Spirit features balcony staterooms port side (9500- 9702) and starboard (9000- 9202).
  • If you are looking for an inside cabin, this is an excellent deck. There are several located on Deck 9 of the Norwegian Spirit, and those most aft (9703, 9207, 9203, and 9205) are across the hall from the luxury suites; this is where the best cabin stewards are assigned. These four inside cabins are also more spacious than standard. However, past guests have indicated that cabin 9207 is located under the kids' club, and in this stateroom, you can hear quite a bit of noise, including "the pitter patter of little feet!"
  • Aft, Owner's Suites 9708 and 9208 are the most spacious on Deck 9 of the Norwegian Spirit and have majestic (less breezy) views of the ocean.
  • Penthouse Suites 9710, 9212, and 9210 are located between the aft Owner's Suites and have that highly sought view of the ocean!

Deck 10

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Norwegian Spirit's Deck 10 is cushioned between two cabin decks, which helps to make this a more quiet place for a stateroom or suite. Several luxury suites are featured forward on this deck, so this will be an area where excellent cabin stewards are assigned. Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Spirit are on Deck 10!

  • Forward on the Norwegian Spirit, Penthouse Suites 10502, 10500, 10000, 10001, and 10002 are quite spacious accommodations on Deck 10. However, unless there's a tailwind, balcony views from this vantage point are going to be breezy!
  • Also forward on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Spirit, eight Penthouse Suites are located port side and starboard (10508, 10512, 10518, 10522, 10008, 10012, 10018, and 10022).
  • If you're looking for a balcony stateroom near luxury suites, cabins 10506, 10510, 10516, 10520, 10006, 10010, 10016, and 10020 are definitely worth your consideration. (Of these, based upon past passenger comments, cabin 10506 has an unusual shape and is actually smaller than standard.)These are all situated between the Penthouse Suites on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Spirit. Interior staterooms in this area are 10507- 10523 and 10009- 10023.
  • Balcony Staterooms 10506 and 10006 are smaller than standard. Neither of these staterooms has a desk or a sofa.
  • There are numerous balcony staterooms port side (10526- 10686) and starboard (10026- 10166) on the Norwegian Spirit's Deck 10!
  • Aft inside cabins 10637 and 10137 are larger than standard.
  • Least preferred inside cabins on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Spirit are 10531, 10031, and 10611 because these are all near stairwells and could have resulting noise concerns.
  • Aft on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Spirit, balcony stateroom 10686 has the most space and the largest balcony of any exterior cabin. It is located nearby the children's pool, which might make it a great location for parents traveling with small children.
  • Exterior stateroom 10166 is right next to the children's care center, which may be very handy for parents traveling with little ones, but noise here could be an issue.
  • Port side, 10672- 10686 are beneath a public area. We cannot rule out the possibility of noise as a result.

Deck 11

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Accommodations on Deck 11 of the Norwegian Spirit are under one of the busiest public decks on the ship! This means that noise could be a problem in several of these cabins! Consequently, we do not recommend most of the cabins on Deck 11 to light sleepers.

  • Balcony Staterooms 11500 and 11502 port side and 11000 and 11002 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 11501, 11505, and 11003 are beneath the Galaxy of the Stars. Noise late into the evening could be a concern in these staterooms.
  • Port side, Balcony Staterooms 11506- 11556 and Interior Staterooms 11507, 11509, 11511, 11529, 11531, 11535, 11551, 11031, 11037, and 11051 are beneath the fitness center. Noise could be an issue in any of these staterooms.
  • Starboard, Balcony Staterooms 11006- 11052 are beneath quiet areas. However, there is a smoking room in the vicinity above these cabins.
  • Balcony Staterooms 11558- 11590 port side and 11056- 11090 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 11555- 11583 and 11055- 11083 are beneath the pool area. Noise early in the morning when staff are cleaning, as well as into the evening hours when the area is open, could be of concern in these staterooms.
  • Balcony Staterooms 11600- 11606 port side and 11100- 11106 starboard and Interior Stateroom 11103 are beneath public bathrooms. Noise, such as hearing water rush through pipes, could be a problem in any of these cabins.
  • Aft, Balcony Staterooms 11608- 11668 port side and 11108- 11168 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 11619- 11667 and 11119- 11167 are beneath the Lido buffet areas. Noise from this venue could be of concern early in the morning until very late at night.
