Norwegian Epic Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary
Best Cabins on the Norwegian Epic are on Decks 9, 10, 11, 12, 13,14, 16, and 17. Please note that the Norwegian Epic is one of the best, and likely the most thoughtfully, designed cruise ships you will find. Very few cabins on any deck of this ship are likely to have exceptional noise issues.

Cabins to be wary of on the Norwegian Epic are some cabins forward on Deck 8, and most cabins on Deck 14.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on the Norwegian Epic

Deck 8

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Along this entire deck, be aware that the main drag of the Norwegian Epic is right beneath many cabins. Most of the public venues on Deck 7 are not going to present appreciable noise issues, but the main lounge forward on this deck could be a concern.

  • Forward on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic, Balcony Staterooms 8016- 8050 port side and 8017- 8051 starboard are over a main bar, so there could be noise concerns very late at night. For light sleepers, there are several other balcony staterooms on Deck 8 that have no appreciable concerns with noise late at night. You may want to look around a bit more, bring along earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • Forward, staterooms with hull balconies are 8004- 8018 port side and 8005- 8019 starboard.
  • 8048- 8070 and 8164- 8188 port side and 8049- 8071 and 8165- 8169 starboard are Mini Suites on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic. Each has 241 total square footage with a 52 sq. ft. balcony.
  • There are very few inside staterooms on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic. We suggest locating one on a higher deck if this is your preference.
  • Port side (8004- 8208) and starboard (8005- 8209), all outside cabins have balconies on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic.
  • Aft, balcony staterooms 8210- 8219 have that lovely (less breezy) ocean view. Of these, 8218 and 8219 are slightly larger than others.
  • While we are not suggesting this deck should be avoided, some of the worst cabins on the Norwegian Epic are forward on Deck 8. Finding a more quiet stateroom on this or any other deck of this ship should be amazingly easy!

Deck 9

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

On Deck 9 of the Norwegian Epic, there are also several balcony staterooms, and many more inside cabin choices. Deck 9 has the added advantage of cabin decks above and beneath, which filter out noise public areas can generate! Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Epic are on Deck 9.

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Norwegian Epic's Deck 10 is also cushioned between two cabin decks, which helps to make this another, more quiet place for staterooms and suites. Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Epic are on Deck 10!

  • Forward on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Epic, Balcony Staterooms 10000- 10016 port side and 10001- 10017 starboard have larger than standard balconies.

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

On Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic, all exterior cabins are balcony staterooms and suites. There are numerous inside cabins as well. In addition to Family Balcony Staterooms, this deck of the Norwegian Epic also introduces several studio cabins, meant for up to two people. Some of the best cabins are on Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic!

  • Balcony Staterooms 11000- 11016 port side and 11001- 11017 starboard are hull balconies.
  • Forward and aft on Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic, there are 24 Family Balcony Staterooms alternating between Balcony Staterooms (11028- 11072 and 11280- 11312 port side and 11023- 11069 and 11275- 11307 starboard). Each has up to 230 total square footage with a balcony up to 79 sq. ft. Family cabins tend to reserve quickly, so we suggest you book as early as possible if this is your preference on the Norwegian Epic.
  • Forward to aft, there are over 60 Studios on Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic. Meant for up to two people, these 100 sq. ft. cabins are quite small but cozy. Mood lighting and special access to the Studio Lounge are a couple of perks for solo travelers in these cabins. Past guests in cabin 11515 indicate that there are noise concerns from housekeeping closet doors slamming shut.
  • Aft on Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic, Penthouse Suites 11322 and 11321 have wonderful views of the ocean. Each has up to 319 total square footage with an 81 sq. ft. balcony.

Deck 12

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The staterooms on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic are similar in style and arrangement to those on Deck 11. There are two Penthouse Suites aft, an array of Balcony staterooms and inside cabins from which to choose, two choices of family cabin types, and several studios. Again, Deck 12 is going to be a more quiet deck due to cabins beneath and below all staterooms and suites, as these provide a bit of a sound barrier from the noises generated from public areas. Some of the best staterooms are on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic!

  • Forward, 12000- 12016 port side and 12001- 12017 starboard are Large Balcony Staterooms. Each has up to 258 total square footage with a balcony up to 107 sq. ft.
  • Balcony Staterooms 12000- 12014 port side and 12001- 12015 starboard are hull balconies.
  • Forward and aft on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic, Family Balcony Staterooms which alternate with Balcony Staterooms (12024- 12068 and 12276- 12308 port side and 12019- 12067 and 12271- 12303 starboard). Each has up to 230 total square footage with a balcony that is up to 79 sq. ft. As mentioned, family cabins reserve quickly. If this is your choice, we recommend you book one as soon as possible.
  • On Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic, there are thirteen Family Mini-Suites. These are 12080, 12088, 12250, 12254, 12258, and 12262 port side, and 12077, 12085, 12245, 12251, 12255, 12259, and 12263 starboard. Each has up to 258 total square footage with a balcony that has up to 107 sq. ft. The balconies for all of these staterooms are angled.

Deck 13

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

While Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic has comfortable accommodations for any cruise traveler, the number of staterooms for families increases! This would be a great deck for anyone traveling with children, and for family reunions. The children's center one deck up makes it easy for parents of small children to go out and have some worry free grown-up fun. Most staterooms have cabins above and beneath, making accommodations on Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic more quiet. However, there is a section of cabins that are under the Pulse Fitness Center that light sleepers need to avoid.

  • With the exception of 13 Balcony Staterooms port side, starboard, and aft, all of the exterior cabins on Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic are Family Balcony Staterooms and Family Mini- Suites, and Mini-Suites. Rather than alternating with Deluxe Balcony Staterooms and Balcony Staterooms, family cabins on this deck are arranged in clusters, which would be ideal for groups of family travelers. As we have mentioned, please book early if you desire a family cabin, because these tend to sell out very quickly.
  • We particularly like the fact that on Deck 13, Deluxe Family Balcony Staterooms 13032- 13050 port side and 13045- 13063 starboard are arranged by the forward elevators for easy access to the children's area just above on the Norwegian Epic.
  • Exterior staterooms 13140- 13190 and Interior Staterooms 13152- 13191 are beneath the Pulse Fitness Center. Noise from the fitness center could be an issue in any of these cabins from early in the morning until the fitness center closes at night.
  • On Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic, Balcony Staterooms 13236, 13238, 13247, and 13249 are larger than standard.
  • Aft and starboard, the balcony view from 13285 is obstructed by hoses and water washing equipment.
  • Aft on Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic, Penthouse Suite 13295 has that highly sought, less breezy ocean view. Each has up to 319 total square footage with an 81 sq. ft. balcony.
  • Balcony staterooms 13278- 13286 and 13287- 13293 are on either side of the Penthouse Suite, and share that beautiful aft ocean view. Each has up to 221 total square footage with a balcony up to 70 sq. ft.

Deck 14

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Just about all of the accommodations on Deck 14 are beneath one of the busiest public decks on the Norwegian Epic. Consequently, the cabins on this deck are not recommended for light sleepers. Located aft on Deck 14, spa suites and staterooms include key card access to the spa, and 24 hr. access to the Thermal Spa Suites. This deck also has the children's center located mid ship, and there are clusters of family cabins in this vicinity.

  • Forward and port side on Deck 14, the balcony of 14000 is next to the La Cucina restrooms, and this cabin shares a wall with this restaurant. Noise could be a concern in this cabin as a result.
  • 14000- 14004 port side and 14001- 14009 starboard have hull balconies.
  • 14000- 14004 port side and 14001- 14071 starboard, and Interior Staterooms 14007- 14029, 14040, and 14055 are beneath the Garden Cafe. This is venue is busy from early in the morning until late at night, so noise could be an issue in any of these cabins. Light sleepers may want to avoid accommodations
  • Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic is underneath the Lido pool areas and casual restaurants. It is possible for exterior cabins 14054- 14096 port side, 14069- 14157 starboard, and interior staterooms 14056- 14076 to have some noise issues early in the morning and late at night when staff are cleaning the pool area. You might hear the scraping of deck chairs, for example, when these are being moved around for sweeping.
  • Heading back from the forward elevators, Deluxe Family Balcony Staterooms (14036- 14052 port side and 14051- 14067 starboard) are all arranged by the children's center on Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic.
  • There are also several Family Balcony Staterooms forward and mid ship on Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic (14006- 14032 and 14058- 14096
  • port side and 14009- 14047 and 14069- 14113 starboard).
  • More aft on Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic are the Spa accommodations, and most luxurious of all are the Haven Spa Suites with Balconies (14133- 14139 and 14145- 14151 starboard). Each has up to 378 sq. ft. with a balcony up to 140 s. ft., and has concierge and butler services available among other perks.
  • Deluxe Spa Balcony Suites are 14098- 14118 and 14153- 14171. Each 241 total square footage, a 52 sq. ft. balcony, and spa amenities.
  • On the Norwegian Epic's Deck 14, Spa Balcony Staterooms are 14117- 14131, 14141, and 14143. Each has 203 total square footage, a 52 sq. ft. balcony, and spa amenities.
