Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on the Island Princess

Deck 5 -- Plaza Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Generally, most of the Deck 5 cabins on the Island Princess are under the casino and the nightclub, and these venues can be noisy into the wee hours!

  • Port side, Ocean View Staterooms P504- P538 have cabins above them that will buffer noise from public areas.
  • Starboard, P401 is beneath a public bathroom. Noise, such as hearing water rush through pipes, could be a concern in this stateroom.
  • Cabins P506, P512, P516, and P535 are designated as wheelchair accessible on the Plaza Deck of the Island Princess.
  • Staterooms that could be affected by noise from the casino are Interior Staterooms P506- P540 and P517- P535, and starboard Ocean View Staterooms P501- P537.
  • Cabins that are beneath the Explorer's Lounge are P542- P624 port side, Interior Staterooms P623 ans P629, and P539- P627 starboard. Noise late into the evening could be issues in any of these staterooms.
  • Interior Stateroom P623 shares a wall with the self service laundry, and Ocean View Staterooms P619 and P621 are across the hall from this facility. Noise and heat from the laundry area when its busy could be problematic in these cabins.
  • Port side, Ocean View Staterooms P626- P630 are beneath public bathrooms. Noise when these bathrooms are busy could be an issue in these staterooms.
  • Several of the worst cabins on the Island Princess are on the Plaza Deck. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks which will be more quiet. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the Island Princess, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 6 -- Fiesta Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Several cabins on Fiesta Deck if the Island Princess are located near the Fitness Center, and some are beneath a restaurant. Consequently, we do suggest a higher deck for light sleepers.

  • On Deck 6 of the Island Princess, Ocean View Stateroom F502 shares a wall with a staff storage area. Noise could be a concern when staff are using this area.
  • F502- F526 are all nearby the casino. While this location might be quite desirable for gambling aficionados, noise might be a concern for others.
  • F508- F524 are under Sabatini's and staff work areas. Noise could be an issue in any of these cabins when the restaurant is open and when staff are busy.
  • Ocean View Stateroom F702 shares a wall with a public bathroom. Noise when this restroom is busy could be an issue in this cabin.
  • F702- F726 port side and F701- F727 starboard are all across halls from the Fitness Center on Deck 6 of the Island Princess. While this facility is open, from early in the morning until evening, noise could be a problem in any of these cabins.
  • Several of the worst cabins on the Island Princess are on Fiesta Deck.

Deck 8 -- Emerald Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Several of the cabins on Deck 8 of the Island Princess are located above Promenade Deck public areas which could generate noise. However, not all of these entertainment venues are open extremely late at night, and there are some sections of Deck 8 that will be relatively quiet. With some careful planning, it is possible to find a nice exterior stateroom on the Emerald Deck of the Island Princess.

  • Ocean View Staterooms E202- E206 and Balcony Staterooms E208- E234 port side, and Ocean View Staterooms E201- E205 and Balcony Staterooms E207- E235 are over the upper level of the Princess Theater. Noise during rehearsals and performances could be an issue in any of these cabins.
  • Exterior staterooms E310- E334 port side and E309- E335 are over the Wheelhouse Bar and Churchill's Lounge. Noise until late at night could be problematic in any of these accommodations. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • Obstructed view Ocean View Staterooms on Deck 8 of the Island Princess are E312- E334 and E502- E622 port side and E311- E335 and E501- E623 starboard.
  • Starboard, Ocean View Staterooms E703- E707 are across the hall from the Self Service Laundry. Interior Stateroom E717 shares part of a wall  with this facility. Noise and heat when the laundry is busy could be concerns in any of these cabins.
  • The best located staterooms on Emerald Deck of the Island Princess are Balcony Staterooms E706- E736 port side, and Balcony Staterooms E709- E737 starboard.
  • While we can not rule out noise from a staff service area between these cabins, Ocean View Staterooms E732 and E733 have easy access to a public aft balcony area!
  • Several of the worst cabins on the Island Princess are on the Emerald Deck. While we are not suggesting the cabins on this deck should be completely avoided, there are staterooms on other decks which will be more quiet.

The Island Princess features spacious and luxurious suites on Caribe Deck, and this is usually where some of the best cabin stewards are usually assigned. Having cabins above and below also makes this one of the more quiet decks on your cruise! Some of the best cabins on the Island Princess are located on Caribe Deck!

  • Forward, there is an observation deck on Caribe Deck that can be accessed by guests.

Deck 11 -- Baja Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

Baja Deck on the Island Princess is the last deck that has the advantage of cabins above and below all of the accommodations. Having cabin decks above and beneath your stateroom or suite advantageously buffer noises from public venues. This is also a very good deck for an Interior Stateroom.

  • Forward on Deck 11 of the Island Princess, B201- B204 are mini-suites, and each will have up to 300 sq. ft. of interior space. These do not have balconies, but will have ocean views.
  • There are several interior staterooms from which to choose. B220, B221, B224, ad B225, however, do receive noise complaints due to noise from a staff service area above them.
  • In our opinion, the best located exterior accommodations on Deck 11 of the Island Princess are as follows. Port side, we suggest B316- B414, B508- B524, B612- B618, and B718- B736. Starboard, we recommend B315- B427, B509- B543, B615- B627, and B721- B739.
  • Port side and aft on the Baja Deck of the Island Princess, there are numerous staterooms with balconies, and several mini-suites as well.
  • Staterooms B618, B620, B627, and B633 are designated as wheelchair accessible.
  • Interior Staterooms B711, B712, B714, B717, and B715 are near the Self Service Laundry. Noise and heat could be issues in these staterooms when the laundry is busy. B711 will be most affected because this cabin shares a wall with the laundry.
  • Aft, Premium Suites B742 and B745 each offer up to 470 sq. ft. including the balcony.

Deck 12 -- Aloha Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Aloha Deck on the Island Princess has Lido pools and eateries just above, so there are several cabins in which noise could be of concern.

  • Forward on Aloha Deck of the Island Princess, A214- A226 port side and A209- A223 are underneath Horizon Court. Noise could be a concern in any of these cabins as a result.
  • Port side, A302 and A304, and starboard staterooms A301 and A303 are beneath public bathrooms. Noise, such as hearing water rushing in pipes, could be a concern in these staterooms.
  • Port side, Balcony Staterooms A306- A528 and starboard Balcony Staterooms A305- A535 are under the pools on Lido Deck. Noise, including the scraping of deck chairs as staff clean early in the morning, could be problematic in any of these cabins.
  • Balcony Staterooms A602- A628 port side and A601- A629 starboard are beneath the Lotus Spa. It is likely going to be more quiet in these staterooms compared to those that are forward of this area.
  • A632- A724 port side and A701- A728 starboard have cabins above and beneath them that will buffer noise from public venues.
  • Port side, A710 is across the hall from the self service laundry. Noise and heat could be a concern when the laundry is busy.
  • Balcony Staterooms A712- A724 port side and A711- A725 starboard are across the halls from the Youth Center. While this location might be optimal for families with young children, we cannot rule out the possibility of noise from this center.
  • Aft, A726, A728, A729, and A727 are Vista Suites. Each will have up to 740 sq. ft. including the balcony!

Deck 14 -- Lido Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Several cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Lido Deck accommodations on the Island Princess have cabins beneath it, and The Sanctuary above. While the adults only Sanctuary is not likely to be a noise source for Lido Deck staterooms and suites, we cannot rule out the possibility.

  • Port side, Balcony Stateroom L706 is beneath a public bathroom. Noise could be a concern when this restroom is busy.
  • Starboard, L701 is under a staircase area. Noise could be a problem as a result.
  • L706- L720 port side, L707- L719 starboard, and aft staterooms and suites L722- L721 are across the hall from the Teen Center. Noise from adolescents while the Teen Center is open cannot be ruled out.
