Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins on the Freedom of the Seas

Deck 2

Most of the cabins on the Freedom of the Seas Deck 2 have cabins above them that buffer noise from public areas. However, beneath this deck is where the ship's engine rooms and propeller are located; noise and propeller vibration could be issues in some of the accommodations on this deck.

• Port side cabins 2544- 2594 and starboard cabins 2244- 2294 are across the hall from elevators, the conference room, Studio B, and the ice rink. There will be more traffic in those areas during daytime and early evening hours, however once the ice rink closes for the night, there should not be a concern over excessive noise.
• Family Ocean View Staterooms (2568 & 2268) and Family Interior Staterooms (2313 & 2309) are quite spacious. On the Freedom of the Seas, family cabins sell out very quickly because of the extra space, clever floor plan, and limited supply. We suggest you book one as early as possible if a family stateroom is your preference. Additionally, you will likely not to be permitted to reserve a family cabin unless you have a certain number of people you are booking into that cabin.
• Interior Staterooms 2623, 2629, and 2633 are larger than standard and are wheelchair accessible. On the Freedom of the Seas, exterior cabins 2640, 2644, 2648, 2340, 2344, and 2348 are nearly twice the standard size and are wheelchair accessible.
• In the aft staterooms on the Freedom of the Seas Cabins (2366-2678), propeller vibration could be of concern. 
• Aft cabins 2354-2678 are located beneath the main dining room, so there could be noise in these accommodations before, during, and after hours open.

Deck 3

Many cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Deck 3 is right beneath several major public areas on the Freedom of the Seas, such as the bars, the casino, and the lounge. This does mean there could be noise after hours.

• Forward cabins 3540 and 3240 are next to public bathrooms.
• Ocean View Staterooms 3546-3552 and  3246-3252 are across from elevators, so noise when the lifts are busy could be issues in these cabins.
• 3554- 3562 port side, Interior Staterooms 3541-3557, 3543- 3555, 3245, 3251, 3241- 3253, and 3240- 3262 starboard are underneath a bar and a restaurant. Noise emanating from either of these venues could pose issues in these cabins.
• Aft cabins 3600 and 3300 are closer to Studio B where noise might be a factor, but not after hours.
• Port side exterior cabins 3604-3638, interior cabins 3605-3617, and starboard exterior cabins 3304-3338 could be close enough to sustain a bit of noise from the On Air Club, RCTV, Art Gallery, large public bathrooms, and elevators. Again, this is not considered a problem as these public areas and facilities are not populated into after hours sleeping time.
• We are not suggesting this deck be avoided at all costs, but some of the worst cabins aboard the Royal Caribbean are on Deck 3 because of the after hours noise from the bars, casino, and lounge areas directly above. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).

Deck 6 -- Upper Deck

Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Along this entire deck, you should be aware that the main drag of the Freedom of the Seas runs beneath your cabin. However, with the exception of the main lounge more forward on Deck 5, and the top tier of the main dining room aft, most of the cabins will not have much of a noise issue because late night entertainment for the most part is two decks below.

• Forward, Ocean View Staterooms 6522- 6550 port side and 6222- 6250 starboard, and all Interior Staterooms in this area (6523- 6535, 6123- 6137, 6223- 6237) are above the main lounge, which does feature live music. Noise could be problematic in any of these cabins, especially the Interior Staterooms. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, bring earplugs, or a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds). 
• Forward, 6506 and 6206 are oddly shaped and appear larger than other ocean view staterooms.
• Forward, 6500 and 6200 are Family Ocean View Staterooms. Each offers 293 sq. ft. of space, and features two twin beds that convert to a "Royal King," a sofa bed that opens into a double bed, and two Pullman beds. Family designed accommodations tend to sell out very quickly, so we do recommend booking these at your earliest convenience. Also, Royal Caribbean may specify a minimum number of persons for family staterooms and suites.
• Mid ship, 6620, 6624, 6320, and 6324 are larger than other deluxe ocean view staterooms and are wheelchair accessible.
• Directly aft is the Presidential Family Suite, 6414, which is the most luxurious of accommodations on Deck 6 of the Freedom of the Seas. 6414 boasts 1209 sq. ft. with an 805 sq. ft. balcony. Deluxe ocean view staterooms 6710, 6712, 6412, and 6410 are also directly aft. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies.
• Staterooms 6684- 6702 port side, interior staterooms 6685- 6707, 6481- 6499, and 6385- 6407, and starboard staterooms 6384- 6402, as well as aft accommodations 6710, 6712, 6414, 6412, and 6410 are just above the main dining room. Noise could be a concern in any of these accommodations while the dining room is open, and when staff are working. Because these cabins are above, rather than below, this busy venue, noise may not be much of a problem. However, we do occasionally receive negative guest reviews from persons who have stayed in similarly situated accommodations.
• While we are not suggesting this deck should be avoided entirely, some of the worst cabins on the Freedom of the Seas are on Deck 6!

Deck 7

Deck 7 is one of the desirable locations for accommodations on the Freedom of the Seas. It's one of the more quiet decks because the decks beneath and above only have cabins on them, and this creates a buffer zone from the public areas. Another advantage here is the fact that exterior cabins port and starboard are predominantly balcony accommodations!

• Forward, 7500 and 7200 are Family Ocean View Staterooms. Each offers 293 sq. ft. of space, and features two twin beds that convert to a "Royal King," a sofa bed that opens into a double bed, and two Pullman beds. Family designed accommodations tend to sell out very quickly, so we do recommend booking these at your earliest convenience. Also, Royal Caribbean may specify a minimum number of persons for family staterooms and suites.
• On the Freedom of the Seas Deck 7, interior promenade cabins 7553-7631 port side and 7253-7331 starboard have a view of Promenade through bowed windows.
• 7607 and 7307 are Promenade Family Staterooms. Each has 327 square feet, over twice the space of standard interior staterooms. A minimum number of guests may apply when booking family stateroom accommodations.
• Moving forward to aft, here is a list of best situated balcony accommodations on Deck 7 of the Freedom of the Seas. port side, we recommend 7516- 7534, 7552- 7562, 7574- 7582, 7586- 7596, 7604- 7616, 7620- 7630, 7656- 7676, and 7686- 7698. Starboard, we suggest 7216- 7234, 7252- 7262, 7274- 7282, 7286- 7296, 7304- 7314, 7320- 7330, 7354- 7356, 7360- 7376, and 7384- 7398.
• Aft on Deck 7 of the Freedom of the Seas, we suggest the best balcony views to be had are from cabins 7708-7408. In the center of these, 7712, 7714, 7414, and 7412 are Junior Suites, which afford more luxurious square footage and larger balconies. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies.

Deck 8

The Freedom of the Seas' Deck 8 is also more quiet, because there are cabins directly beneath and above. Here, you will find Royal Family Suites which are quite spacious, as well as roomy ocean view staterooms.

• Forward on the Freedom of the Seas Deck 8, Family Ocean View Staterooms 8500 and 8200 are oddly shaped and extremely roomy. Each offers 293 sq. ft. of space, and features two twin beds that convert to a "Royal King," a sofa bed that opens into a double bed, and two Pullman beds. Family designed accommodations tend to sell out very quickly, so we do recommend booking these at your earliest convenience. Also, Royal Caribbean may specify a minimum number of persons for family staterooms and suites.
• Moving forward to aft, the best situated balcony staterooms on Deck 8 of the Freedom of the Seas are as follows. port side, we recommend 8516- 8534, 8554- 8562, 8574- 8582, 8586- 9596, 8606- 8628, 8656- 8676, and 8684- 8696. Starboard, we suggest 8216- 8236, 8254- 8262, 8274- 8282, 8286- 8296, 8306- 8328, 8354- 8362, 8366- 8376, and 8384- 8398.
• Promenade Staterooms (8553-8631 port side and 8253-8331 starboard) have a view of the Promenade through bowed windows.
• Promenade Staterooms not recommended are 8553, 8253, 8631, and 8331. These staterooms are next to the elevators, so noise could be an issue in any of them.
• Aft, Royal Family Suites 8714 and 8414 are very spacious (587 sq. ft.) and have 270 sq. ft. balconies. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies. Again, family cabins sell out very quickly because of the extra space, clever floor plan, and limited supply. We suggest you book one as early as possible if a family stateroom is your preference. Additionally, you will likely not to be permitted to reserve a family cabin unless you have a certain number of people you are booking into that cabin.
• Aft on the Freedom of the Seas Deck 8, deluxe ocean view staterooms 8712 and 8412 are smaller, but right next to Royal Family Suites. These also have less windy balcony ocean views. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies.

Deck 9

Cabins on the Freedom of the Seas Deck 9 are also of interest because they have no public areas above or below them. Several junior suites are on this deck, all of which feature 317 sq. ft. with balconies that are over twice the size of average ocean view balcony staterooms.

• Forward, 9504, 9502, 9202, and 9204 are Large Ocean View Staterooms. Each offers 175 sq. ft.  
• Family Ocean View Staterooms 9500 and 9200 are situated center and forward. Each offers 293 sq. ft. of space, and features two twin beds that convert to a "Royal King," a sofa bed that opens into a double bed, and two Pullman beds. Family designed accommodations tend to sell out very quickly, so we do recommend booking these at your earliest convenience. Also, Royal Caribbean may specify a minimum number of persons for family staterooms and suites.
• Inside cabins 9553, 9557, 9561, and 9357 are more spacious than standard and are wheelchair accessible.
• From the forward section through the mid ship section of Deck 9 of the Freedom of the Seas, there are 44 Junior Suites. Each offer 297 sq. ft. with a 94 sq. ft. balcony!
• While there are plenty of wonderful accommodations on Deck 9 of the Freedom of the Seas, we recommend the following staterooms or suites. port side, we recommend 9522- 9532, 9552- 9558, 9576- 9580, 9586- 9594, 9604- 9616, 9620- 9626, 9656- 9676, and 9684- 9696. Starboard, we suggest 9222- 9234, 9252- 9262, 9276- 9280, 9286- 9294, 9304- 9316, 9320- 9326, 9356- 9374, and 9384- 9396.
• Aft, Royal Family Suites 9708 and 9408 afford the most spacious accommodations and have huge balconies! Aft balconies are wonderful (and generally less breezy). Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies. Again, family cabins sell out very quickly because of the extra space, clever floor plan, and limited supply. We suggest you book one as early as possible if a family stateroom is your preference. Additionally, you will likely not to be permitted to reserve a family cabin unless you have a certain number of people you are booking into that cabin.
• Aft on Deck 9 of the Freedom of the Seas, Deluxe Ocean View Staterooms 9704, 9706,  9406 ,and 9404 are next to the Royal Family Suites. While these staterooms are smaller, you will still have that less breezy aft ocean view from your balcony. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies.

Deck 10

Deck 10 features the Royal Suite, which is the most spacious and luxurious of accommodations on the Freedom of the Seas! Grand Suites and Owner's Suites are also on this deck. However, it is important to remember that the spa, the whirlpools, the pools, two specialty restaurants, a bar, and the Windjammer Cafe are all above the Deck 10 accommodations.

• While you are in the luxury zone on Deck 10 of the Freedom of the Seas, bear in mind that you are also just beneath Deck 11 which is Lido Deck. Luxury minded travelers need to know that exterior suites including Grand Suites and Junior Suites 1574-1616 port side and 1274-1316 starboard could have after hours noise from the pool areas just above, such as the scraping of deck chairs when staff are cleaning.
• Interior cabins which would be the most affected by the after hours cleaning in the Lido Deck area just above are 1575-1615 port side and 1275-1317 starboard. Budget minded cruisers can find less noisy interior accommodations elsewhere on this deck.
• Aft of the Centrum elevators on Deck 10 of the Freedom of the Seas, inside cabins 1659-1677 port side and 1359-1377 starboard may have noise from the bar above on Deck 11.
• Inside cabins 1535, 1231, 1321, 1325, 1657, and 1357 are larger than standard and are wheelchair accessible. Of these, cabins 1657 and 1357 are the most spacious on Deck 10 of the Freedom of the Seas.
• Without question, the most spacious suite on the Freedom of the Seas is 1640, which is the Royal Suite. Boasting 1,358 sq. ft. with a 313 sq. ft. balcony, the Royal Suite features a living room with a baby grand piano and a queen sized sofa bed, a bathroom with a tub, a whirlpool on your private balcony, and a king sized bed in a separate bedroom. This suite is located mid ship and port side.
• Aft, Superior Staterooms 1700 and 1400 are oddly shaped, more spacious cabins with larger balconies. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies.
• Also aft, Junior Suites 1706 and 1406 are roomier than standard, and feature over-sized balconies. Please note that the steel structure of the ship will prevent guests from ocean views when looking down on these balconies.

Deck 12

Deck 12 cabins on the Freedom of the Seas were added during a major renovation in 2015. All of these staterooms are located in the forward section of the ship, so these are close to the Sky Bar and the jogging track, and just above the spa and fitness facilities. Deck 12 also includes two spacious Family Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms!

• Facing forward on Deck 12 of the Freedom of the Seas are 1854 band 1804. These Family Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms each offer 406 sq. ft. of living space and some amazing vistas! It's always best case to reserve these family cabins early because these do book quickly!
• Located between the Family Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms are 1852 and 1802. These Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms will also offer incredible views of the ocean. Each provides from 191 to 215 sq. ft. of living space. Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms 1856- 1862 port side and 1806- 1812 starboard flank the Family Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms, and each will also provide awesome forward views!
• Looking for a larger than standard Ocean View cabin on Deck 12 of the Freedom of the Seas? With each offering 283 sq. ft. of living space, 1864 or 1814 are ideal. These Larger Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms are wedge shaped, allowing for floor to ceiling windows that are each 76 in by 253 inches in size!
• There are twelve more Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms on Deck 12 of the Freedom of the Seas. These are 1866- 1876 port side and 1816- 1826 starboard.
• Balcony Staterooms 1876- 1890 port side and 1826- 1840 starboard on Deck 12 of the Freedom of the Seas will each offer 164 sq. ft. with a 51 sq. ft. balcony. Enjoy!
