Celebrity Cruises believes that “luxury” and “big ship” are not opposed to one another. Since its founding in 1989, Celebrity Cruises has positioned itself as a premium cruising experience catering to those who yearn for attention to detail and personal service. The closest competitor to Celebrity Cruises are Holland America Line and Princess Cruises.
Celebrity’s newest ships, 2,800+ passenger vessels are some 30% larger than the prior generation of ships. The Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox have received excellent reviews and have introduced fresh innovations like the Lawn Club (pictured right) which features live grass on the top of the ship!
The Celebrity Cruises experience appeals to those with an appreciation of luxury and a sense of casual elegance:
Outstanding cuisine. Celebrity’s DNA is steeped in epicurean delights. For years, Celebrity retained a Michelin-starred chef to train its staff and help create the menus. While that chef is no longer in partnership with Celebrity, the fact that Celebrity has created so many great chefs that one has only seen the cuisine continue to amaze year-in and year-out. The alternative dining restaurants are extraordinary -- Murano, Silk Harvest, and Tuscan Grille are three of the finest alternative dining restaurants found at sea.
Contemporary meets classic décor. The ships feature a largely modern design with, but, don’t be surprised if you come across the occasional piece of classic art or antique as a focal point of the design. Worth remarking – the layout of the ships are ingeniously thought out such that lines are rare, and, you would hardly be reminded that you are on large cruise ship.
Remarkable cruise itineraries. Most cruise lines only visit the major cruise ports. While Celebrity is no stranger to these ports, they go out of their way to incorporate some of the smaller ports that are not use to seeing cruise ships on several-times a week basis. Some of these ports are far more charming as they have retained their indigenous culture rather than morph into a cruise ship shopping towns.
Butlers in all Suites. Don’t feel like packing? Don’t feel like going out to breakfast? Want hors d’oeuvres served in your suite every evening at 6 PM? Your cappuccino (extra foam please) delivered every morning at 8:30 AM? If you book a suite on Celebrity, your personal butler will ensure this is all taken care of.
Dinner in your cabin. On most cruise ships, the room service menu leaves much to be desired: a few sandwiches on the menu and, maybe, a couple of soup and salad choices. On Celebrity, if you want to dine on your balcony, feel free to order off the main dining room menu. After all, you paid extra for the balcony – why not enjoy it!
