Cabins to be wary of onboard the Carnival Magic: staterooms on Deck 6 - Upper Deck.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins onboard the Carnival Magic

Deck 1 -- Riviera Deck

Cabins on Deck 1 of the Carnival Magic have cabins above them -- this means that they are typically quieter compared to cabins beneath the disco or sunbathing areas (the noise of moving deck chairs late at night / early in the AM).

  • On the Riviera Deck of the Magic, cabins 1408-1467 (in the stern / rear of the ship) may notice a bit of propeller vibration.
  • Aft on the Magic's Deck 1,cabin 1448 is oddly shaped & has more space than average staterooms.
  • Cabins 1337, 1343, 1414, and 1429 share wall space with elevators and are probably noisier than other cabins on the Magic's Deck 1.

Deck 2 -- Main Deck

Deck 2 on the Carnival Magic is right beneath several major public areas on the ship, such as the main dining rooms and the main lounge. Because many of these venues are operating during times when most people are not in their cabins, noise issues may not be a concern. That said, light sleepers may want to look for accommodations in cabins that have cabin decks above and below to help buffer noise from highly trafficked public areas.

  • The exterior cabins in the aft of the ship (2472-2497) all have unique aft-facing views that are quite picturesque on the Magic's Deck 2.
  • Exterior staterooms 2365- 2441 and inside cabins 2367 and 2377-2433 on the starboard side, and portside cabins 2338- 2414 and 2348- 2410 are all located under the ship's galley. Noise from the galley could be an issue for light sleepers, and has been described as a problem late at night and early in the morning in cabin 2431.
  • Aft on the Magic's Main Deck, cabins 2470 and 2495 are roomier than average staterooms.
  • The Carnival Magic has balcony cabins 2248- 2414 port side, and 2273- 2441 starboard on Deck 2.
  • On the Magic's Deck 2, cabin 2367 may not be a great choice because it is right by an elevator.

Deck 6 -- Upper Deck

Some cabins with potential problems

Along the entire Upper Deck, be aware that the main drag of the Carnival Magic is right beneath your feet -- including some areas that stay fairly noisy into the wee hours. This includes the Disco, Casino, Video Arcade, Teen Disco, Main Lounge & Aft Lounge.

  • Arguably, any cabin numbers from the middle of the ship to the aft of the ship (cabins 6284-6507) might have significant noise coming from the late night action below. While we are not shunning this deck, some of the worst cabins on the Carnival Magic are on Upper Deck! If you are light sleeper, you may prefer a cabin elsewhere on the ship, or bring earplugs. You may also consider investing in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • On the Magic's Deck 6, cabins 6389, 6393, 6366, 6436 and 6467 are next to elevators and may be noisy.
  • Cabins 6470 and 6501 have the largest balconies on the Upper Deck of the Magic.
  • On the Upper Deck of the Carnival Magic, balcony category cabins in the rear of the ship 6472-6503 all have extended balconies and more spacious accommodations. Most also have the highly sought-after rear-facing views (where you typically don't have to worry about the balcony being too windy).

Deck 7 -- Empress Deck

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Empress deck is without question the high-rent district of the ship. This is where all the suites and penthouse category cabins are located. There is also at least one deck of buffer both above and below this deck, so noise tends not to be an issue from common areas. Given that this is where the high-dollar cabins are, this is also where the best cabin stewards are usually assigned. So, if your budget only affords you an inside cabin, reserving one right across from a penthouse might be a very wise investment! Some of the best cabins on the Carnival Magic are on the Empress Deck!

  • Balcony category cabins in the rear of Deck 7 on the Magic (7460-7461) have extended balconies and the highly sought-after rear-facing views (where you typically don't have to worry about the balcony being too windy).
  • Aft, 7458 and 7459 are Premium Vista Staterooms. Each will offer 185 sq. ft. with a 75 sq. ft. balcony with great aft views!
  • Cabins 7348, and 7349 are next to elevators and are likely noisier on the Magic's Empress Deck.
  • Forward on the Magic's Deck 7, interior cabins 7207 and 7208 are roomier than standard.
  • Past guests on 7271 have indicated that there is a service area on the other side of the same wall next to the head of the bed. Noise from that service area was very loud.

Deck 8 -- Verandah Deck

The Veranda deck on the Carnival Magic also has the benefit of cabin decks just above and beneath it. Most accommodations on Verandah deck are standard staterooms, and all of the outside cabins do have balconies.

  • Cabins 8351, 8352, 8355, 8438, and 8445 are by elevators and probably noisier than other staterooms on Deck 8 of the Magic.
  • Forward interior cabins 8206 through 8251 are extremely small, and budget minded cruisers will find larger inside cabins farther aft on the Verandah Deck of the Carnival Magic.
  • Balcony category cabins in the rear of the Magic's Verandah Deck (8466-8473) all have oversized balconies, and several have the highly sought-after rear-facing views (where you typically don't have to worry about the balcony being too windy). Some of these staterooms are also more spacious than average.

Deck 9 -- Vista Deck

The Carnival Magic's Vista Deck should be considered in two sections. One has cabins on the deck above it, and the other one has the pool, sunbathing, and dining area above it.

  • The quieter areas are cabins 9201 through 9268 on the forward part of the Magic's Vista Deck, which has cabins on the deck above it.
  • If you're in one of the Magic's Vista Deck cabins in the aft sections, you can occasionally hear the scraping of deck chairs being rearranged above you on Lido deck. This is not a problem during the daytime hours, but it can awaken light sleepers after midnight until 6 AM when the crew is cleaning the Lido deck public spaces. Once again, we suggest you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship, or, bring earplugs or a wave machine.
  • The Balcony category cabins in the rear of Deck 9 of the Magic (9472-9481) all have either over-sized balconies, or the highly sought after rear-facing views (where you typically don't have to worry about the balcony being too windy).

Deck 10 -- Lido Deck

Cabins on the Carnival Magic's Lido Deck are close to the pool, spa & gym facilities. They are also of interest because they have no public areas above or below them.

  • While there are doors to suppress the sound from the pool area, cabins 10290 and 10291 are a bit close to the pool area and you may prefer to move farther forward on Deck 10 of the Magic.
  • Forward on Deck 10 of the Cazrnival Magic, inside cabins 10201- 0206 port side are more spacious than average. If balcony access is not a concern, these cabins could be a nice choice.

Deck 11 -- Panorama Deck

Cabins on the Carnival Magic's Panorama Deck are the first floor of Cloud Spa Accommodations and as such, you have private access and amenities, and also receive priority Spa reservations. There are no public areas below these cabins, but some noise may filter through from the spa facilities immediately above the most forward cabins.

  • On Deck 11 of the Magic, cabins 11278 and 11277 have balconies with partially obstructed views and may be a bit noisier due to their proximity to the bandstand.
  • Suites 11215 and 11221 starboard are larger and do have over-sized balconies on the Magic's Deck11.
  • Forward on the Magic's Panorama Deck, cabins 11204 and 11203 are spacious.
  • "Spa Cabins" are strictly non-smoking and there is a $250 cleaning fee assessed if cabin staff notice the smell of smoking in your room.

Deck 12 -- Spa Deck

The Spa Deck cabins are the ultimate Cloud Spa Accommodations on the Carnival Magic! All cabins feature private access and amenities, with priority spa reservations. Also, these staterooms are all spacious and do include balconies.

  • "Spa Cabins" are strictly non-smoking and there is a $250 cleaning fee assessed if cabin staff notice the smell of smoking in your room on Deck 12 of the Magic.
  • Cabins 12044 and 12037 are closest to the Waterworks and are likely to be noisier than cabins farther forward on the Magic's Spa Deck. Past guest reviews of cabin 12037 described a couple of concerns. First, noise was an issue from the stairs nearby cabin 12037 which lead to Serenity. Also, mop water and water from the Waterworks drains over the balcony of cabin 12037, so there were consequent difficulties with sitting out on this balcony, or attempting to use the balcony to dry out clothing,.
