Sydney Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Sydney. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit Sydney. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Sydney to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

Shortly before you hear “it's not as hard as it sounds,” someone tells you that THE number one thing to do in Sydney is climb the harbour bridge. Your adventure starts with a breath-alcohol test, some comprehensive training, special gear, and a guide. You'll wind up over a half mile above the harbour. What a way to see the opera house!

Price: Adults expect to pay around $250 for 4 hour's worth of what is unquestionably adventure.

Booking Advice: This tour is rated as physically strenuous. Cruise line prices do appear competitive, but we suggest also checking tours offered by online 3rd party vendors. For those of you who would raher pass, we do suggest a look at trying the Sydney Tower Skywalk.

City Tour and Bondi Beach

This coach tour will take you past city highlights including The Rocks (established in 1788 and now home to galleries, shops, and famous old pubs), Hyde Park, the Botanic Gardens, Kings Cross (referred by some as the red light district), and Rushcutters Bay (where you'll see the Royal Cruising Yacht Club), and there's a photo opportunity and great views from Mrs. Macquaries Chair. Then, you're off to Bondi Beach for some free time.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $50 for this 4 hour tour through the cruise lines.

Booking Advice: This tour by design is easy in terms of physical difficulty. We do suggest doing tour comparisons with online 3rd party vendors. We especially suggest that you check out the Hop On/ Hop Off Bus Tours via Viator.com, which cost about $38 per adult.

Wildlife Park, Blue Mountains, and Jamison Valley Scenic Cableway

At Featherdale Wildlife Park, there are more than 2200 mammals, reptiles, and birds in bush settings. You'll have opportunity to feed a kangaroo, and see koalas and emu. You'll see Katoomba village, and incredible vistas from Echo Park to include Jamison Valley, the Three Sisters, Mount Solitary, the Giant Stairway, and the Ruined Castle. Lunch, including splendid view of the Blue Mountains, is at the Skyway Brasserie. Then, enjoy that Scenic Cableway ride above Jameson Valley's waterfalls and ravines!

Third Party Shore Excursions in Sydney

Below are links to third-party shore excursion vendors in Sydney. These links will launch in a new browser window and are external sites. We bear no responsibility for the content or services offered at these sites.
3rd party shore excursions often have advantages over shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Third party shore excursions can be less costly and feature smaller groups than shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Often, the vendors you buy from directly are the same vendors used by the cruise lines themselves.

The benefit of buying shore excursions from the cruise line is that the vendors and pre-screened for safety and reliablity. While cruise lines shore excursions can be more expensive than buying direct from a local vendor, there is certainly peace of mind that the cruise line will be using a reliable, safe and trusted vendor. If you experience a problem with the vendor on a cruise line-sold shore excursion, the shore excursion managers onboard the cruise ship will likely be an invaluable resource to help settle disputes.
