St. Maarten Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting St. Maarten. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit St. Maarten. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in St. Maarten to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

America's Cup Regatta

Considered to be one of the most exciting cruise excursions you're going to find (and certainly one of the most unique), the America's Cup Regatta places you on an elegant 12-meter race boat on a shortened course for America's Cup. No experience is necessary as you participate in this “once in a lifetime” version of this race!

Price: Adults expect to pay from $76 to $120.

Booking Advice: This excursion lasts about 2.5 hours, and is considered to be moderate on the activity level scale. It's very popular, and capacity is limited, so we do suggest that you book early. Cruise line prices are quite competitive with third party vendors.

Snorkeling

Explore coral reefs, wrecks, and marine life as you snorkel off St. Maarten. Cruise line prices typically are higher when snorkeling is combined with sailing or high speed boat rides. Most snorkeling adventures last from 2 to 3 hours.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $49 to $100.

Booking Advice: Considered to be moderate on the activity level scale, snorkeling and boat rides/sailing trips are quite popular and do have limited seating. Third party vendors, for about the same money, combine snorkeling excursions with lunch, parties, and/or shopping, so they're certainly worth your consideration!

Rhinos Riders

These two person inflatable motorboats are a great way to get to your 'get-away beach' for fun & the sun, including snorkeling!

Price: Adults expect to pay from $94 to $169.

Booking Advice: This excursion lasts from 3 to 6.5 hours, with higher prices usually involving other activities (such as jeep trips). Rhino rides are very popular, and since capacity is limited, it's wise to book early. This excursion receives a strenuous activity level rating. Third party vendors are quite competitive with cruise line prices, and worth your consideration.

Sightseeing & Shopping

We'd be remiss not to mention sightseeing & shopping tours on a island with such rich history and culture... especially an island that is comprised of two nations. On these excursions, you'll typically see both Philipsburg and Marigot, have a chance to sample superb cuisine, and get in some shopping time on an island that boasts duty free and reduced prices!

Price: Adults expect to pay from $35 to $89.

Booking Advice: These excursions are considered to be easy on the activity scale, and last from 2.5 to 4 hours. Third party prices are extremely competitive.

Horseback Riding on the Beach

You begin your ride through island flora to Cay beach, where you'll have that idyllic horseback ride on the beach. Excursions may include a swim (the horses love that), and an opportunity for sightseeing in Philipsburg.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $100 to $119.

Booking Advice: These excursions are considered to be moderate to difficult, and last up to two hours.

Third Party Shore Excursions in St. Maarten

Below are links to third-party shore excursion vendors in St. Martin/St. Maarten. These links will launch in a new browser window and are external sites. We bear no responsibility for the content or services offered at these sites.
3rd party shore excursions often have advantages over shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Third party shore excursions can be less costly and feature smaller groups than shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Often, the vendors you buy from directly are the same vendors used by the cruise lines themselves.

The benefit of buying shore excursions from the cruise line is that the vendors and pre-screened for safety and reliablity. While cruise lines shore excursions can be more expensive than buying direct from a local vendor, there is certainly peace of mind that the cruise line will be using a reliable, safe and trusted vendor. If you experience a problem with the vendor on a cruise line-sold shore excursion, the shore excursion managers onboard the cruise ship will likely be an invaluable resource to help settle disputes.
