Rotterdam Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Rotterdam. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit Rotterdam. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Rotterdam to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

The Hague and Mauritshuis

On this tour, you'll basically drive through the Hague, where you'll see Parliament and Peace Palace (which houses the United Nation's International Court of Justice). You'll then drive to Mauritshuis, which is a palace that was converted to a museum in the 1800's. This museum has on display famous Dutch masterpieces including works by Vermeer and Rembrandt, and a collection of Dutch and Flemish art from the 15th to the 19th centuries.
 
Price: Adults expect to pay around $85.
 
Booking Advice: These tours are considered to be moderately difficult due to the walking. Cruise line prices appear to be competitive.

Rotterdam City Tour and Harbor Cruise

The coach portion of this tour takes you through the city of Rotterdam, which was devastated during World War II, so will will consequently see many buildings which post date this war, including cube houses, the pencil tower, the Erasmus Bridge, and the Euromast. A harbor boat then takes you for a tour of the port.
 
Price: Adults expect to pay from $51 to $100 through the cruise lines.
 
Booking Advice: These tours are rated as easy with regard to physical exercise. You may also want to consider a city pass for the day, which possibly saves you some time and expense at various attractions in Rotterdam.

Amsterdam City Tour, Canal Cruise, and the Van Gogh Museum

The coach portion of the tour takes you to Amsterdam essentially for the day. You'll see the windmills, the flower market, and the Mint Tower (once part of a Medieval Wall). A canal cruise takes you by houseboats and elegant homes, and then by the house where Anne Frank once hid. Your visit to the Van Gogh Museum will afford you the opportunity to see the largest collection of this artist's works in the world. Dinner is included with many of these tours.
 
Price: Adults expect to pay $170 through the cruise lines.
 
Booking Advice: Because of the walking involved, these tours are rated as moderate in terms of physical exertion. Cruise line prices appear to be competitive.

Rotterdam City Tour including Delfshaven

On this city tour, highlights of the pre and post World War II buildings that predominate Rotterdam include the Weena Building, Cafe Rotterdam, Kop van Zuid, the Van Nelle Factory, the Groothandelsgebouw, Town Hall, the Euromast Tower, and Luxor Theater. You'll then tour Delfshaven, which is by the Nieuwe Maas River and where the pilgrims departed for America in 1620. En route back, you'll also see Piet Blom's (circa '70's) Cube Houses.
 
Price: Adults expect to pay around $55 for this 2.4 hour coach tour.
