You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Rio De Janeiro to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

Sugarloaf Mountain, Corcovado Mountain/Christ the Redeemer Statue, and City Tour

One of the most popular tours in Rio de Janeiro is to take the 2 stage cable car ride up Sugarloaf Mountain, and then up Corcavado Mountain to visit the Christ the Redeemer Statue. You can choose half day (4 hour) and full day (8 hour) excursions, and both typically include the fact that you'll be seeing some city highlights en route to and from the mountain. After a coach drive, you then board a cog wheel train en route to the top of Cocovado Mountain to see the Christ the Redeemer Statue. Full day tours through the cruise lines typically include lunch at a Brazilian restaurant. The cable car ride stops ½ way up Sugarloaf at a viewing platform where you'll enjoy incredible vistas of the city and surrounding terrain. Then you continue upward to the 125 ft. tall Christ the Redeemer statue. If you've opted for lunch, this occurs after the cable car ride. Highlights of the city that you'll see along the way include Copacabana Beach, Ipanema Beach, the Sambodromo District (where Carnival parades occur), and the Candelaria Church (circa early 19th century.

3rd party shore excursions often have advantages over shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Third party shore excursions can be less costly and feature smaller groups than shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Often, the vendors you buy from directly are the same vendors used by the cruise lines themselves.

The benefit of buying shore excursions from the cruise line is that the vendors and pre-screened for safety and reliablity. While cruise lines shore excursions can be more expensive than buying direct from a local vendor, there is certainly peace of mind that the cruise line will be using a reliable, safe and trusted vendor.
