Miami Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Miami. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit Miami. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Miami to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

South Beach Tour with Airport Transfer

You'll see the famous Art Deco style buildings while in South Beach, pass by the Versace Mansion and other homes of the rich and famous, visit the beach itself, and have time for lunch and then shop the boutiques along Collins Avenue.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $40 for 3 hour tours with a Miami airport transfer, and $46 with a Fort Lauderdale airport transfer.

Booking Advice: These tours are rated as easy physically. Because the airport transfers come with the deal, cruise line prices appear to be highly competitive. Lunch cost is not included in these prices, however.

Jungle Island

Rare tigers, Red Kangaroos, lemurs, a Petting Farm, and Hercules, a 900 lb. Liger are among attrations in this jungle setting.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $30 for transportation to the jungle and admission.

Booking Advice: This tour is rated as easy physically. Cruise line prices are competitive, but this cost does not include your transportation AFTER your visit.

Everglades Airboat Tours

An airboat ride takes you into the everglades, where you might see fish, birds, and alligators. You'll then be trated to a wildlife show and watch alligators feed before leaving for the airport.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $40 to $70 for this 3 hour tour and a transfer to the Miami airport, and at least $90 when the transfer is to the Fort Lauderdale airport.

Booking Advice: These tours are rated as being easy to moderate in terms of physical exercise. Cruise line prices include the airport transfers, and are thus considered to be competitive. Availability for persons using wheelchairs is limited, and cruise lines will need you to confirm arrangements ahead of time.

Seaquarium and Airport Transfer

At the Seaquarium, you'll see four shows including Lotlita the Killer Whale. You'll also see marine life feeding at a reef exhibit, and feed sea lions. You'll view sharks being fed, and see crocodiles and manatees.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $50 for this 4 hour tour that includes admission and airport transfer.

Booking Advice: These tours are rated as easy. Cruise line prices, including the transportation, are very competitive.

The Children's Museum

This is a hands on, interactive experience for real kids from 2 to 92. Climbing a 2 story sandcastle, navigating a cruise ship, making your own CD, designing your own money, and operating a camera are among the exciting things available to do!

Price: Adults expect to pay around $36 for this 4 hour tour.

Booking Advice: These tours are rated as easy physically. Transfer to the Miami airport is optional, but cruise line prices appear to be competitive.

3rd party shore excursions often have advantages over shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Third party shore excursions can be less costly and feature smaller groups than shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Often, the vendors you buy from directly are the same vendors used by the cruise lines themselves.
 
The benefit of buying shore excursions from the cruise line is that the vendors and pre-screened for safety and reliablity. While cruise lines shore excursions can be more expensive than buying direct from a local vendor, there is certainly peace of mind that the cruise line will be using a reliable, safe and trusted vendor. If you experience a problem with the vendor on a cruise line-sold shore excursion, the shore excursion managers onboard the cruise ship will likely be an invaluable resource to help settle disputes.
