Limassol Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Limassol. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit Limassol. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Limassol to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

Curium, Temple of Apollo and Omodos Village

One of the premiere historical attractions of Cyprus is Curium (Kourion), where you'll see a Roman theater, thermal baths, and mosaics dating back to 2nd century AD.Then, you'll visit the remnants of a temple for Apollo before heading to Omodos. In the village, you'll see cobblestoned streets, an old wine press, and shops.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $39.

Booking Advice: Because this 5 hour tour consists of walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs, it's rated as moderately challenging physically. Third party tours are a bit more expensive, but include other historically memorable sites and last all day.

Mountain Villages/Troodos Mountain Tours

The mountain tours offered by the cruise lines are from 5 to 7 hours long, and for the most part transpire in villages where you can learn about local home based industries and have opportunity to taste test some of the products. In Agros, for example, you can see the various processes the villagers employ to make liqueurs, sweets, scented candles and oils, and wine from the aromatic Rosa Damascena. These tours give you a unique sense of history as you witness traditions from antiquity as these are practiced in modern day.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $34 to $109, depending on tour length and agenda.

Booking Advice: Because of the walking involved, these tours are rated as moderate with regard to physical exertion. Third party vendors offer full day “grren tours” if you just want to get away from it all and enjoy the Troodos Mountains.

Paphos Tours

Paphos tours usually include additional sites, such as visiting the village of Yeroskipou and seeing Aphrodite's Rock (birthplace of the goddess) en route. Expect to see treasures from antiquity which include murals dating back to the 8th century at the Church of Ayia (one of 2 Byzantine churches on the island), the 4th century Tomb of the Kings, the 2nd century House of Dionysos, and the Pillar of Paul. Some of these tours include lunch and shopping on your own time. All include stunning scenic drives, and a visit to Paphos' restored harbor in front of a Medieval Castle.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $59 to $75.

Booking Advice: The walking involved while you're seeing all of these wonderful places is why these tours are rated as moderate with respect to physical exercise. Third party vendors offer some interesting and fairly competitive Paphos excursions, but do not include lunch.

Nicosia Tours

In addition to being the capital of modern day Cyprus, this city dates back to the Bronze Age, and an old portion of it is surrounded by 15th century Venetian Walls. You'll see the beautiful St. John's Cathedral, and the Byzantine Art Museum is outstanding. There will also be plenty of great places for shopping and dining.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $80 to $119.

Booking Advice: These tours are rated as moderate with regard to physical exercise because of the walking involved. Third party vendors are well worth your consideration due to their prices and agendas for Nicosia tours.

City Tours

This city tour takes you to a variety of highlights in and nearby Limassol, including Curium's 2nd century (restored) Greco Roman Theater, the 13th century Kolossi Castle built by the Crusaders, and the Medieval Castle. It is believed Richard the Lionhearted married Berengaria of Navarre in 1191 on the site where the Medieval Castle was built (in the 14th century).

Price: Adults expect to pay around $39.

Booking Advice: These tours are moderately physically demanding because of the walking. Tours of the museum in the Medieval Castle are optional and not included in the price of this excursion. Third party vendors offer some attractive prices for grand tours of Cyprus, but in our opinion this city tour offered by the cruise line is a pretty good deal.
