Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Haines. Scenic Cruise of Chilkoot Lake

Your tour begins with the coach drive to the lake, during which time your guide gives you a bit of information about the area. At the lake, your open air pontoon ride on Lake Chilkoot commences. While people rarely guarantee wild life sightings, you may see brown bears, salmon, bald eagles, mountain goats, and moose.

Booking Advice: If you just want to see Lake Chilkoot for an half a day, this cruise line tour is very competitively priced. It's rated as easy in terms of physical exercise.

Fort Seward Walking Tour

At Fort William H. Seward, you'll see highlights including the barracks, Officers' Row, and the parade grounds on the walking tour. The old army hospital now houses Alaskan Native American Arts that you'll have opportunity to experience. This tour also includes going to Tlingit Park and Lookout Park, as well as time to stroll about and enjoy Haines.

Glacial Fjord Bike Tours

Starting by Lutak Inlet, you'll travel paved and dirt roads for 8 miles, and you might see sea lions, porpoises, whales, brown bears, and eagles. Your return via coach drive back to the pier.

Dalton City, Salmon Tasting, and the Haines Brewery Company Tour

En route , you'll drive through the historic site of Fort William H. Seward to Dejon Delights, which is the local smoked salmon connection. While there, you'll learn about the process of making smoked salmon and have opportunity to sample. You'll then have a walking tour of Dalton City, which is an old gold town. Then, you'll visit Alaska's smallest brewery, the Haines Brewing Company, and learn about their beer making. Samples are, of course, included.
 
Price: Adults expect to pay around $70 for this two hour tour.
