Corfu Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Corfu. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit Corfu. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Corfu to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

Achilleion Palace, Paleokastritsa, & Old Corfu Town

Tours including Old Corfu Town, Achilleion Palace, and Paleokastritsa provide you opportunity to experience three “must do” places on the island. These tours range from 4.5 to 7.5 hours. Achilleion Palace, a 30 minute drive, is typically the first stop. Completed in 1891, this palace, built in neoclassical style, boasts lovely gardens and and a mural depicting Achilles. The scenic village of Paleokastritsa follows next. Tours may also feature a photo opportunity in Lakones and a visit to the Monastery of the Virgin Mary, circa 1288 with newer buildings dating to the 1700's, next. At the monastery, there's a chapel which houses a museum of Byzantine and ecclesiastical art. In Old Corfu Town, highlights include the Esplanade, the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, and the Church of St. Spyridion. Typically as time permits, you'll be able to shop & stroll about Old Corfu Town.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $49 to $109, depending on tour length and agenda.

Booking Advice: Because of the walking involved, these tours are rated as physically difficult. Walking on these tours includes traversing uneven surfaces, stairs, and inclines. In Old Corfu Town, tours may only include exterior views of highlights. Lunch is typically included in longer (7.5 hour) tours. In our opinion, shorter tours (such as 4.5 hour) might be a bit too brief to fully appreciate the tour highlights.

Corfu Scenic Drives

Because so many tours in Greece involve a tremendous amount of walking, it's always nice to find those coach tours that permit opportunity to see the sights with a bit more ease. These excursions typically drive along Paleokastritsa Bay, considered to be very beautiful, and stop for a photo break in Lakones. From there, the tour then goes through mountain villages to Corfu Town. Once in the town area, highlights include the Palaiopolis ruins, the ex-monarch's summer palace, Mon Repos, Garitsa Bay, the Old Fortress, the Palace of St. George and St. Michael, the New Venetian Palace, and San Rocco Square. These tours are usually 3.5 to 4 hours long.

Price: Adults expect to pay from $50 t0 $54.

Booking Advice: Even though these tours are rated as easy in terms of physical exertion, walking is still involved. Most tours do include, time permitting, a chance to shop and stroll about in Corfu Town.

Corfu Town Walking Tours

This 5 hour tour begins at Mon Repos Palace, where you'll visit the museum (British Colonial & ancient Greek artifacts) and see some of the grounds and excavation sites. Other of the numerous highlights include seeing the Byzantine Church of St. Jason and Sosipatros, a soap factory in the modern city of Corfu, and a variety of sites in Old Corfu (Old Town Hall, the British Royal Palace, Esplanade Square, the Old Ventian Fortress, and the Church of Saint Spyridion).

Price: Adults expect to pay around $64.

Booking Advice: These tours are rated as physically strenuous. With the possible exception of the Mon Repos Palace museum, on these tours you will likely be viewing the exteriors of buildings highlighted.

Glyfada Beach Transfer

This transfer brings you to Glyfada Beach for a half day (4 hours including transportation time). You'll be renting your umbrella and chair, and there are places nearby for refreshments. Glyfada is known for its golden sand.

Price: Adults expect to pay $22.

Booking Advice: These tours are generally rated as easy physically. For about twice the money per adult, you may want to look at beach resort excursions. When you're at the beach, you will need euros, and credit cards are not accepted.

4WD Tours of Kerkyra Villages

These 7 hour tours explore parts of Mount Pantokar and villages en route. You're off road to visit the village of Troumbetta, and lunch and free time are part of the deal at Ag. Giorgis Pagi beach.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $138.

Booking Advice: These tours are considered to be moderate in terms of physical exercise.

Third Party Shore Excursions in Corfu

Below are links to third-party shore excursion vendors in Corfu, Greece. These links will launch in a new browser window and are external sites. We bear no responsibility for the content or services offered at these sites.
3rd party shore excursions often have advantages over shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Third party shore excursions can be less costly and feature smaller groups than shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Often, the vendors you buy from directly are the same vendors used by the cruise lines themselves.

The benefit of buying shore excursions from the cruise line is that the vendors and pre-screened for safety and reliablity. While cruise lines shore excursions can be more expensive than buying direct from a local vendor, there is certainly peace of mind that the cruise line will be using a reliable, safe and trusted vendor. If you experience a problem with the vendor on a cruise line-sold shore excursion, the shore excursion managers onboard the cruise ship will likely be an invaluable resource to help settle disputes.
