Cannes Shore Excursion Guide

Cruise lines offer a number of shore excursions for sale when visiting Cannes. For your convenience, we have provided a sample listing below of the shore excursions typically sold by cruise lines that visit Cannes. You may wish to check out 3rd party shore excursions in Cannes to get a wider variety of options to choose from.

Cannes & Nice Walking Tour

While the walking tour is considered to be physically strenuous, the fact that you will see some of the most popular sites in Cannes can't be denied. Your tour begins at the famed Festival and Convention Center, where you'll find film stars' hand imprints about and behind the building. The boutiques and luxury hotels along the beach side La Croisette are also considered a “must do” by many. Following rue d'Antibe (a street of shopping opportunities), you'll then travel from Allees de la Liberte square to the old town, La Suquet. There, you'll see a Provencal Gothic church built in the 1600's before returning.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $42.

Booking Advice: While this 3 hour cruise line excursion appears to be competitively priced, it is rated as difficult in terms of physical exercise and thus there will be age requirements and physical restrictions. Third party vendors do offer group excursions that include city tours, such as www.privateshoretrips.com/french_riviera_1.html. With private group excursions, you'll find that more people in your group will equal more savings. In this case, for a city tour for up to 8 people, the cost is roughly $17 more per person than the walking tour we've just described.

Grasse & St-Paul-de-Vence

This tour, which last almost 5 hours, takes you to Grasse, the capital of the French perfume industry, and St-Paul-de-Vence. In Grasse, you'll tour a perfume factory, and learn a bit about how flowers are processed to make different scents. Then, you'll visit St-Paul-de-Vence (circa 1500's), where you'll see lovely flowers, vineyards, cobblestone streets, and stone buildings. In St-Paul-de-Vence, you'll have oportunity to stroll about, do some shopping, and just sit back and observe this picture perfect medieval town as you relax with a beverage.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $56.

Booking Advice: Due to the walking on uneven surfaces, this excursion is rated as moderate in terms of physical exertion. Based upon our analysis, this cruise line tour is competitively priced.

Grand Corniche to Monaco & Eze

This full day (9 hour) tour takes you on a scenic journey to small villages and mountainside roads, including Napoleon's Grand Corniche, to the Rock of Monaco, the walled city, and modern Monaco. You'll visit Monaco's old quarter, see the exterior of the Oceanographic Museum, a romanesque cathedral, and the Prince's Palace. You'll then be driven on a section of the Grand Prix route to Casino Square for lunch, and have opportunity to play games of chance in the famed Grand Casino. En route back, you'll have opportunity to explore the mountain village of Eze (best done as a walking tour). Eze dates back to the medieval era, and it quite picturesque! The cost of your lunch is included.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $189 through the cruise lines.

Booking Advice: Due to the walking involved, this tour is rated as moderate in terms of physical exertion. Third party rates for private groups do not include lunch costs but do offer a competitive rate. You will need your passport if you intend to gamble and would like to collect your winnings.

Nice & Monaco On Your Own Tours

These do it yourself tours are essentially escorted transfers, which permit 2 hours of free time in Nice, and 3 hours in Monaco, last for a total of 8 hours and 45 minutes. This is an excellent option for those of you who have visited the Cannes area before, and for those of you who want to travel with your own group at your own pace.

Price: Adults expect to pay around $86.

Booking Advice: Because of the walking up hills and on uneven surfaces, such tours can be moderate to strenuous in terms of physical exercise. You will need your passport if you intend to gamble and would like to collect your winnings. Past passengers who have been to Cannes and Monaco have had favorable reviews of cruise line excursions, but also highly rate third party private group tours as well.

Monte Carlo & the Grand Casino

This 6 hour excursion tours the highlights of the Municipality of Monaco, Old Monaco, and Monte Carlo. You'll visit the Rock, see the old town, and go shopping at Casino Square or gamlbe in the Grand Casino!

Price: Adults expect to pay around $86.

Booking Advice: Because of sustained walking uphill, this excursion is rated as physically strenuous. You will need your passport if you intend to gamble and would like to collect your winnings. You may want to consider the private group rates for third party excursions.

Third Party Shore Excursions in Cannes

Below are links to third-party shore excursion vendors in Cannes. These links will launch in a new browser window and are external sites. We bear no responsibility for the content or services offered at these sites.
3rd party shore excursions often have advantages over shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Third party shore excursions can be less costly and feature smaller groups than shore excursions sold by the cruise lines. Often, the vendors you buy from directly are the same vendors used by the cruise lines themselves.

The benefit of buying shore excursions from the cruise line is that the vendors and pre-screened for safety and reliablity. While cruise lines shore excursions can be more expensive than buying direct from a local vendor, there is certainly peace of mind that the cruise line will be using a reliable, safe and trusted vendor. If you experience a problem with the vendor on a cruise line-sold shore excursion, the shore excursion managers onboard the cruise ship will likely be an invaluable resource to help settle disputes.
