The Oriental Bazaar is probably the best-known gift shop in Tokyo, this is a useful one-stop outlet for almost everything and most of the staff her speak a good amount of English. Another fun place to visit is Tokyo Hands as it is the largest household and novelty goods store in Tokyo. It is said the party supplies section of this store will give you a good glimpse of the Japanese sense of humor. Binga-Ya is a great place to find unique handcrafted items which a big hit with tourist of all types. Here's a small sample of items you'll find in Tokyo, Japan:

Tokyo, Japan Shopping Tips:
  • Credit cards are not universally accepted. Many of the vendors accept only the official currency which is the Yen. You can use ATM’s to withdrawal cash from your major credit cards.
  • Bartering and haggling prices is acceptable in Tokyo, Japan. The key to successful haggling in Japan is to limit your haggling attempts within stores that are amenable to engaging in it. Larger retailers are often offended by attempts to haggle the price.

The currency in Tokyo, Japan is Yen. International credit cards like the American Express, VISA, MASTERCARD, Diners Club and JCB will be accepted at hotels, main facilities, and stores. Travelers' checks may be used in most banks, hotels, ryokan (Japanese-style inns) and superstores. Most transportation systems such as bus lines, trains and taxi's do not take credit cards so you will need to keep some Yen on hand.
