The Jade Market is fascinating and showcases over 400 vendors who are all selling one of the Orient’s most precious stones. Great bargains can be found on jade items that range in shapes and sizes from larger bookends to tiny charms. Here's a small sample of items you'll find in Hong Kong, China:
  • Silk robes

Hong Kong, China Shopping Tips:
  • Many of the vendors accept major credit cards but it is highly recommended that you keep a small amount of Hong Kong Currency for small spur-of-the-moment purchases.
  • Bartering is a common practice in the Hong Kong markets.

The legal tender is the Hong Kong dollar. Traveller's cheques are accepted by leading banks and hotels. International credit cards such as American Express, VISA, Diners Club and MasterCard are also widely acceptable at hotels, retail shops and restaurants. Such premises usually display stickers of accepted cards at their entrance. Automated teller machines (ATMs) can be found almost everywhere and some HSBC 'Electronic Money' machines provide 24-hour cash withdrawal (HK$) facilities for Visa and MasterCard holders.
