Tallinn Self-Guided Tour

Here are some popular sights and attractions you may want to check out if you choose to not do a shore excursion and explore Tallinn, Estonia on your own:
  • Medieval Old Town
Touring old down you will find twisting cobblestone lanes and iron street lamps along with Gothic spires and medieval markets. This is a great place to visit if you are looking for a mix of cutting-edge culture and historic ambience.
  • Bastion Tunnels
Explore this intricately built defensive tunnel system dating as far back as the 1600s. On a tour of the tunnels you can see some of the old equipment leftover from the WWII era, as well as parts of the tunnel that still retain their more medieval look.
  • Dominican Monastery Claustrum
The inner chamber of this monastery once included three wings which together called the Claustrum. The east wing still remains and consists of a monks’ dormitory, refectory, prior’s living quarters, a library and other rooms which all provide a unique look into the lives of medieval monks. You won’t want to miss the “Energy Pillar” in the cellar which many believe is a source of physical and spiritual health.
  • Estonian Open Air Museum
In this museum you will be able to take a trip back in time to the rural Estonia of old. The large, forested park is filled with thatched 8-20th-century windmills, farm buildings, a village school and a wooden chapel. Staff members are here to demonstrate how people worked and lived in the past
Typically stops in Tallinn, Estonia are 8 -9 hours in length.
