Palma De Mallorca Self-Guided Tour

Here are some popular sights and attractions you may want to check out if you choose not to do a shore excursion and explore Palma de Mallorca on your own:

  • Sa Seu
Sa Seu is Palma's cathedral,  a feat of Gothic architecture finished in 1587. The Cathedral is home to 20 small chapels that surround the perimeter. Each one is unique and several honor regional religious heroes. Visitors looking up will discover the glorious Rose Windows above the main altar.
  • Palau de l'Almudaina
Palau de l’Almundaina was once the royal Moorish palace, and then a summer palace for the Spanish monarchy. Visitors will appreciate the unique architecture and art. Note worthy areas include the Hall of the Fireplaces, the terrace, the Queen's and King's rooms, tapestries, and period furniture. The Chapel of St. Anne boasts a Romanesque portal and delicate interior.
  • Museu de Mallorca
Museu de Mallorca is the archeological museum of the island. It’s located near the Cathedral, down several small, winding streets. The basement rooms are filled with relics from different eras of the island. Each exhibit is clearly identified and detailed. The second floor, which is devoted to art, mixes works of Spanish artists from the current era and old altarpieces. The unusual building has a large open center courtyard that provides a quiet place to reflect between sights.
  • Banys Arabs
Banys Arabs features a variety of architectural styles, such as parts of a 10th-century bath, columns from the ruins of Roman buildings, and Moorish features that speak of Palma's past. The baths served as a gathering place in their time. Visitors can see various rooms that are indicative of such an establishment, including the tepidarium, a lukewarm room.
