Cruise Passenger Safety in Bora Bora

Medical treatment is generally good on the major islands. Patients with emergencies are often referred to facilities on Tahiti for treatment. Some doctors and hospitals are beginning to accept credit card and U.S. insurance while others still expect immediate cash payment for services. Check with your insurance carrier to assure you have coverage out of country. Bora Bora has a low crime rate.  However, petty crimes, such as pick-pocketing and purse snatching, do occur. Visitors should secure their valuables at all times and remain particularly aware at night. As a matter of personal safety, it is advisable that you travel in groups, or go to places where there are large crowds of tourists when you are in Bora Bora.
