Seattle Restaurant Guide

Fresh salmon, smoked salmon, white fish, dungeness crabs, and shellfish abound in Seattle. You can even go to the world famous Pike Place Fish and watch fishmongers happily at work, making it look like play as they toss fish... In fact, they do this so well that this company has a highly valued motivational series for businesses. This positive attitude is almost palpable in this lovely city with "best places to kiss" and a wonderful guy named Ivar who says, "Clam down," when he's feeling a bit punny. You can find great wines, a spooky underground, spectacular views, and (yes) great food in the numerous venues Seattle has to offer. It's a city with character that has survived and thrived over the decades... you'll love the tastes and feel of it!

Ivar's Acres of Clams, at Pier 54, is the original location of what has become a Seattle chain of seafood venues that have evolved for 80 years. That's a wealth of experience, and it does reflect in the numerous entrees at your selection for lunch and dinner! Starters such as the seafood cocktail, calamari, a dozen oysyer sliders, sauteed clams, and mussels, range from 10 to 13 USD. Chowders and salads typically cost from 6 to 13.50 at lunch. Including the Seafood Bounty, the Marsala Clam Linguini, and an 8 oz. Sirloin, lunch main courses usually cost from 14 to 20 USD, and there's a list of sandwiches such as burgers, po boys, and cod tacos that cost from 11 to 14 USD. Dinner choices expand both in variety and size, and range from 19 to 35 USD. Ivar's is a memorable experience, with fantastic views and good food! This restaurant is open Monday through Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM for lunch, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM for "beat the Tide" specials, and from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM for dinner. Happy Hour is from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM Sundays through Thursdays, and from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Fridays and Saturdays. Their address is 710 Front St., and you can call them at 602-624-6852. The Pink Door, located at 1919 Post Aly, overlooks Puget Sound, and is above Pike Place Market... a perfect location for vistas as you enjoy Italian/American cuisine! The Pink Door also happens to be a lovely get-away, with live entertainment at no extra charge and a patio. Antipasti includes the "leaning Tower of Eggplant, Heirloom Tomatoes, Tapanade, and Goat Cheese," cheese boards, and Piatto Di Prosciutto, ranging from 5 to 14 USD. There's a nice selection of paninis, which can be made gluten free for a dollar extra, which cost from 9 to 12 USD. Pasta, Risotto, and Pizzas range in price from 14 to 21 USD, and you additionally have Frutti Di Mare and Carne options from 11 to 23 USD. It's Italian, so of course they have beautiful salads! The dinner menu extends a bit, but overall is similar in price to the lunch menu. We suggest The Pink Door for those of you seeking a romantic, beautiful place where you'll likely have some entertainment to complement the wonderful entrees! This restaurant is open from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays, from 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sundays. You can call them at 206-443-3241, or visit http://thepinkdoor.net/menus.html.

Etta's Seafood, located at Pike Place Market at 2020 Western Ave., is not going to be a cheap lunch or dinner, but in this case you do "get what you pay for." This restaurant is one of Chef Tom Douglas' showcases, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. Lunch and dinner prices do not fluctuate vastly, by the way... Etta's features fresh oysters, appetizers (6 to 15 USD), and Soups and Salads from 7 to 15 USD. Main dishes from fish & chips, to smoked fish, to fresh salmon and more, typically range from 10 to 28 USD, and there's a selection of fried fish from which to choose from 14 to 18 USD. You definitely want to sample the coconut pie for dessert! Etta's is open from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays, from 11:30 to 10:00PM on Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturdays, and from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sundays. We suggest reservations. You can call them at 206-443-6000, or visit http://tomdouglas.com/.

The official currency is the U.S. dollar. All major credit cards and travelers checks are accepted in most locations.
