Gio's has long been considered one of the top restaurants on the island and their specialty is the seafood - especially crab and lobster. Since it opened several decades ago, people have been flocking to Gio's for its king crab al ajillo (drenched in garlic sauce), but they serve up pretty mean churrasco (Argentinean-style beef) and filet mignons. "Charlie's Big Fish Platter" is also a favorite, containing king crab, shrimp, lobster, calamari and loads of grilled-to-perfection vegetables. (Gio's platters easily fill the bellies of two big appetites!) All dishes come with salad and garlic bread. For seating, you can choose to dine "al fresco" on the patio, or inside in the air-conditioned dining room. All seats have inviting views of the harbor. Prices for main courses: L150-400 ($10-$25). Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Hours are: Mon-Sat 10am-2pm and 5-10pm. Gio's is located Under the El Faro Inn, Main St, French Harbour, Honduras. The phone number is 504/455-5214.

The official currency is the Honduran Lempira. U.S. dollars are readily accepted throughout the Bay Islands. Credit cards and traveler’s checks are accepted at some small gift shops and restaurants in the towns and villages. Larger restaurants and resorts do accept credit cards. It would not be uncommon to be charged a 6% credit card surcharge on credit card purchases.
