Shabestan combines authentic cuisine with Persian hospitality. The exotic dining room is reminiscent of a sultan's palace, and evenings bring live Persian music and a romantic ambience. Lamb is the centerpiece of the award-winning menu, and the chelow kebab with marinated lamb with a large helping of saffron rice come highly recommended. The carefully prepared fish kebabs are equally delicious. Hot flatbread and a generous plate of raw vegetables and feta cheese accompany all selections. Ask for a table with a view of the creek, and expect to spend at least a couple hours here savoring the experience. Although Persian food is widely available in Dubai, Shabestan offers the best. All dishes are priced between AED 40-AED 150 ($11-$41). Major credit cards are accepted. Hours are daily 12:30-3:15pm and 7:30-11:15pm. Reservations are recommended. Shabestan is located at Radisson SAS, Deira & Bur Dubai. Their phone number is 4/222-7171.

As you enter Al Mahara seafood restaurant you are greeted with an interesting submarine-style elevator followed by an enormous aquarium, around which the dining tables are arranged. The cuisine at Al Mahara is no less impressive than the theatrical décor with delicately slivered wagyu carpaccio stands; full, flaky halibut; and deep-friend courgettes marinated with a thick, creamy mushroom and champagne sauce. Complete your memorable experience at Al Mahara with a sinful melting chocolate sphere. Prices are expensive and reservations are recommended. Hours are 12.30pm-3pm, 7pm-12 midnight daily. Al Mahara is located at Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Road, Umm Suqeim, Dubai. Their phone number is 971 4 301 7600.

The Glasshouse has a menu overseen by the Michelin-starred British chef, Gordon Ramsay, and offers an exceptional and memorable dining experience. This is a glass-intensive restaurant, including floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass floor. An excellent way to begin your meal is with a warm tart of Mediterranean vegetables and Persian feta cheese. Pasta and risotto dishes are featured on the menu. Vegetarians should not miss the tomato eggplant lasagna. The Glasshouse offers one of the city's most sophisticated Friday brunches with all-you-can-drink sparkling wine or sangria. Prices for main courses range from AED 50-AED100 ($14 USD - $27 USD). Major credit cards are accepted. Hours are 7am-midnight daily. Reservations are recommended. Al Nafoorah offers an opulent dining room facing the Dubai skyline. Cooking is primarily focused on seafood and authentic Lebanese cuisine. Specialties include: hot and cold meze (appetizers, such as hummus, baba ghanouj, and kibbe Nafoorah with minced lamb in ground Bulgar wheat) and inventive Lebanese dishes including grilled Omani lobster, chicken livers in pomegranate, and delicious shawarmas. Twelve expert cooks work in tandem under Executive Chef Ali Hussein, who specializes in seafood from the Arabian Gulf. Probably the most exotic fish prepared is the Hlowa Wo, a mild white fish marinated with fresh local herbs and accompanied by cumin rice. Friday's seafood lunch is a local favorite with items such as hammour, lobster, and shrimp. Prices range from AED 50-AED 150 ($14 USD - $40 USD. All major credit cards are accepted. Bice caters to the "who's who" of Dubai who come dressed to kill. Fortunately, the food is not lost on the scene, with outstanding classic Italian dishes prepared by Chef Andrea Mugavero. Featured dishes include fettuccini with Canadian lobster, seafood risotto, eggplant and mozzarella lasagna, and breaded veal, "Milanese" style. Many of the pasta dishes feature truffles and wild mushrooms, and the homemade ricotta and spinach tortelli is a house favorite. Freshly baked bread is accompanied by black olive tapenade, sun-dried tomato paste, and olive oil with chili flakes. Best tables are next to the huge windows overlooking the pool and gardens. Live piano music is offered nightly, and the restaurant can become quite noisy. Prices for main courses are AED 85-AED 155 ($23 USD -$42 USD). All major credit cards are accepted. Hours are noon-3pm and 7pm-midnight daily. Reservations are required. Bice is located at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, Jumeirah & New Dubai and their phone number is 4/399-1111.
