Norwegian Star Pool, Water Slide and Sunbathing
The Norwegian Star has 3 pools and 6 whirlpools. The pools are filled with saltwater, and there are freshwater showers provided so you can rinse off. Reportedly, the maximum pool depth is 8' in the main pool, which is great for swimming and sunbathing around the deck.
The main pool is The Oasis Pool, and it is located in the middle of the ship on Deck 12. The main pool features four oversized whirlpool spas and two twisting slides. There is usually some activity going on around the Oasis Pool -- anything from a Caribbean band to a member of the ship's staff leading an activity or game. Typically, the Oasis Pool hours are from 6 AM to 8 PM, and the whirlpools are open from 6 AM to 11 PM.
On Deck 12 Aft, there are two hot tubs in the vicinity of the Splashdown Kids Pool. The quickest way this area can be accessed is by the Aft elevators.
The Lap Pool is located inside of the Spa area on Deck 11. This pool is enclosed and is accompanied by another whirlpool and a hydro-pool. The Lap Pool in the Barong Spa area opens at 8 AM and closes at 8 PM.
The kids have their own pool known as the Splash Down Kids Pool. This is a paddling pool that comes equipped with slides. There is also a kid's sized whirlpool in the same area. The kid's pool is located on Deck 12. Typically, this pool is open from 8 AM to 7 PM.
Norwegian Star pool, Waterslide and Sunbathing Tips:
When arriving in the pool area, you will need to sign-out a towel. There will be a $22 charge per towel to your onboard account for each towel you fail to return. These are sturdy towels and if you want to purchase one, you can from the order form in your room.
Babies & Infants in Pools: Norwegian's official policy is no swim diapers, children must be potty trained. Planet Kids stresses this point to all the families that bring their kids. We have not heard reports on whether or not the policy is strictly enforced.
While Norwegian does its best to discourage this, Sunbathers do show-up at 8 AM and try to hog the lounge chairs for the day.
