Norwegian Jewel Main Dining Rooms
Norwegian Cruise Line created Freestyle Dining -- a flexible approach to dining in the restaurant of your choice, at the time that is convenient for you. The main dining rooms, The Azura and The Tsar's Palace, are the largest restaurants on the Norwegian Jewel. You can almost always show up without a reservation and be seated right away.
The Azura restaurant onboard Norwegian Jewel is located midship on Deck 6. The Azura is the Norwegian Jewel's smaller main dining room. Generally there's something for just about every appetite. Starters include crab dip, fruit, and soups such as chilled apple bisque and beet soup. Grilled salmon, lean burgers, and fusili pasta and barbecued pork are among main entrees featured on the lunch menu, and for dinner expect beef, fish, poultry, and vegetarian selections. Dessert in the Norwegian Jewel's Azura dining room include pies, berries served in Grand Marnier sauce, fruit, and ice cream among the choices.
The Tsar's Palace:
Norwegian Jewel's Tsar's Palace restaurant transports you to 19th century Russia. Burgundy hues with green and gold accents, and clusters of faux Faberge eggs complete the décor. For dinner in either main dining room, look for six main entrees which remain constant, and three nightly specials which vary. Greek salads, baked shrimp, and French Onion Soup exemplify starters, and traditional main entree favorites include Grilled New York Strip Steak, baked chicken breast, and roasted salmon. Vegetarian Lasagna and Chicken Piccata with Gnocchi are among entrees for more adventuresome palates. Desserts include sherbet, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and pies. The Tsar's Palace dining room onboard Norwegian Jewel is located aft on Deck 6.
Tips for Norwegian Jewel Main Dining Rooms
Breakfast is served from 7:00am to 9:00am, lunch is from noon to 2:30pm, and dinner hours are from 5:30pm to midnight. Only one main dining room is open for breakfast and lunch, and you can determine that by checking the Freestyle dining option daily.
Bare feet, jeans, shorts, tank tops, and swim wear are not permitted. As a rule, shorts and jeans are not permitted after 6:00pm. For gentlemen, smart casual such as slacks and polo style shirts are more appropriate at dinner time.
Meals are no cost, but special beverages, wines, beer, and soft drinks may be purchased via current bar menu. When ordering steaks and other meats, specify your grilling preference.
Guest Reviews of Norwegian Jewel's Main Dining Rooms
Both main dining rooms on Norwegian Jewel have recently received good to excellent reviews for food quality.
The Azura's more contemporary look, in comparison to the opulence of Tsar's Palace, has been a little disappointing for some. However, keep in mind that both restaurants serve the same menu -- this is simply a matter of preference in decor.
