Norwegian Epic Best & Worst Staterooms: Summary
Best Cabins onboard the Norwegian Epic: staterooms on Decks 9, 10, 11, 12, 13,14, 16, and 17. Please note that the Norwegian Epic is one of the best, and likely the most thoughtfully, designed cruise ships you will find. Very few cabins on any deck of this ship are likely to have exceptional noise issues.
Cabins to be wary of onboard the Norwegian Epic: some staterooms forward on Deck 8.

Deck-by-Deck Breakdown of the Best and Worst Cabins onboard the Norwegian Epic

Deck 8

***CruiseAdvice.org Warning ***
Some cabins on this deck with potential problems.

Along this entire deck, you should be aware that the main drag of the Norwegian Epic is right beneath your cabin. Most of the public venues on Deck 7 are not going to present appreciable noise issues, but the main lounge forward on this deck could be a concern.

  • Forward on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic, balcony staterooms 8016- 8050 port side and 8017- 8051 starboard are over a main bar, so there could be noise concerns very late at night. For light sleepers, there are several other balcony staterooms on Deck 8 which have no appreciable concerns with noise late at night. You may want to look around a bit more, bring along earplugs, or invest in a wave machine (a sound device available at a specialty retailer like Brookstone -- produces pleasant sounds that can wipe out the unpleasant sounds).
  • There are 20 Family Balcony Staterooms on midship on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic. Each of these has 245 sq. ft. of space, which is ample room for a small family. These staterooms typically alternate with Deluxe Balcony Staterooms and Balcony Staterooms (8048- 8068 and 8164- 8182 port side and 8051- 8071 and 8169- 8185 starboard. While the Epic boasts more family accommodations than any of her sister ships, these cabins sell out very quickly because of their very popular sleeping arrangements. It is best if you book early if this is your preference.
  • Balcony staterooms 8166- 8189 are larger than standard.
  • There are very few inside staterooms on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Epic. We suggest locating one on a higher deck if this is your preference.
  • Port side (8004- 8208) and starboard (8005- 8209), all outside cabins have balconies on Deck 8 of the Epic.
  • Aft, balcony staterooms 8210- 8219 have that lovely (less breezy) ocean view. Of these, 8218 and 8219 are slightly larger than others.
  • While we are not suggesting this deck should be avoided, some of the worst cabins on the Norwegian Epic are forward on Deck 8. Finding a quieter stateroom on this or any other deck of this ship should be amazingly easy!

Deck 9

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

On Deck 9 of the Norwegian Epic, there are also several balcony staterooms, and many more inside cabin choices. Deck 9 has the added advantage of cabin decks above and beneath which filter out noise public areas can generate! Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Epic are generally onboard Deck 9.

  • Forward on the Epic's Deck 9, balcony staterooms 9000- 9028 port side and 9001- 9029 starboard have larger balconies than standard.
  • There are 20 Family Deluxe Balcony Staterooms on Deck 9, and these alternate with Deluxe Balcony Staterooms midship on Deck 9 of the Epic (9082- 9100 and 9244- 9262 port side and 9083- 9101 and 9247- 9263 starboard). As mentioned, family cabins are in high demand, so it's best to book one early if this is your choice.
  • This is a very good deck for inside cabin reservations. Interior staterooms 9234 and 9233 are larger than the others on Deck 9 of the Norwegian Epic.

Deck 10

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The Norwegian Epic's Deck 10 is also cushioned between two cabin decks, which helps to make this another, quieter place for staterooms and suites. Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Epic are on Deck 10!

  • Forward on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Epic, Balcony Staterooms 10000- 10016 port side and 10001- 10017 starboard have larger than standard balconies.
  • Balcony staterooms 10275- 10278 are larger than standard.
  • There are 18 Family Balcony Staterooms which alternate with Deluxe Balcony Staterooms midship on Deck 10 of the Norwegian Epic (10082- 10096 and 10256- 10272 port side and 10083- 10097 and 10257- 10273 starboard).
  • Aft, Penthouse Suites 10326 and 10325 have incredible ocean views!
  • On either sides of the Penthouse Suites balcony staterooms 10318, 10320, 10322, and 10324 and 10323, 10321, 10319, and 10317 also have that beautiful (less breezy) view of the ocean on Deck 10 of the Epic.

Deck 11

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

On Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic, all exterior cabins are balcony staterooms and suites. There are numerous inside cabins as well. In addition to two categories of Family Balcony Staterooms, this deck of the Epic also introduces several studio cabins, meant for up to two people. Some of the best cabins are on Deck 11 of the Epic!

  • Forward and aft on Deck 11 of the Epic, there are 26 Family Balcony Staterooms alternating between Balcony Staterooms (11028- 11076 and 11280- 11312 port side and 11023- 11073 and 11275- 11307 starboard). With 216 sq. ft., these family cabins are about 29 sq. ft. smaller than the Deluxe Family Staterooms, but are still quite family friendly. As mentioned, these family cabins tend to reserve quickly, so we suggest you book as early as possible if this is your preference on the Norwegian Epic.
  • Midship on Deck 11 on the Epic, there are 18 Deluxe Family Balcony Staterooms, all of which alternate with Balcony Staterooms (11078- 11090 and 11250- 11268 port side and 11079- 11091 and 11253- 11269 starboard).
  • Forward to aft, there are over 65 Studios on Deck 11 of the Norwegian Epic. Meant for up to two people, these 100 sq. ft. cabins are quite small but cozy. Mood lighting and special access to the Studio Lounge are a couple of perks for solo travelers in these cabins. Past guests in cabin 11515 indicate that there are noise concerns from housekeeping closet doors slamming shut.
  • Aft on Deck 11 of the Epic, Penthouse Suites 11322 and 11321 have wonderful views of the ocean.
  • Balcony Staterooms 11314- 11320 and 11313- 11319 also have that highly sought, less breezy ocean view!

Deck 12

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

The staterooms on Deck 12 of the Epic are similar in style and arrangement to those on Deck 11. There are two Penthouse Suites aft, an array of Balcony staterooms and inside cabins from which to choose, two choices of family cabin types, and several studios. Again, Deck 12 is going to be a quieter deck due to cabins beneath and below all staterooms and suites, as these provide a bit of a sound barrier from the noises generated from public areas. Some of the best staterooms are on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic!

  • Forward and aft on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic, Family Balcony Staterooms which alternate with Balcony Staterooms (12024- 12078 and 12276- 12308 port side and 12019- 12069 and 12271- 12303 starboard). These are about 30 sq. ft. smaller than the Deluxe Family Staterooms. Of these, we suggest 12072 and 12308 because these Family Balcony Staterooms have slightly larger balconies. As mentioned, family cabins reserve quickly. If this is your choice, we recommend you book one as soon as possible.
  • Deluxe Family Staterooms offer 245 sq. ft. including balcony space. These alternate with Deluxe Balcony Staterooms midship on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic (12074- 12086 and 12246- 12264 port side and 12075- 12087 and 12249- 12265 starboard). Again, family accommodations are quite popular so we suggest reserving one early if this is your preference.
  • Interior cabins 12186- 12183 are larger than standard. Deck 12 of the Epic is also a great location for a quieter inside stateroom.
  • There are 65 Studios on Deck 12 of the Epic. Designed for up to two people, these 100 sq. ft. cabins are a nice find for solo travelers!
  • Balcony Staterooms 12268, 12270, 12267, and 12269 are larger than standard and have larger balconies.
  • Aft on Deck 12 of the Norwegian Epic, Penthouse Suites 12318 and 12317 offer luxurious accommodations and will command a fantastic (less breezy) view of the ocean.
  • On either side of the Penthouse Suites, Balcony Staterooms 12310- 12316 and 12309- 12315 share that same wonderful aft ocean view!

Deck 13

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

While Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic has comfortable accommodations for any cruise traveler, the number of staterooms for families increases! This would be a great deck for anyone traveling with children, and for family reunions. The children's center one deck up makes it easy for parents of small children to go out and have some worry free grown-up fun. For the most part, all staterooms have cabins above and beneath, making accommodations on Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic quieter. Some of the best cabins on the Norwegian Epic are on Deck 13!

  • With the exception of 29 Balcony Staterooms port side and starboard, all of the exterior cabins on Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic are Family Balcony Staterooms and Deluxe Family Balcony Staterooms. Rather than alternating with Deluxe Balcony Staterooms and Balcony Staterooms, family cabins on this deck are arranged in clusters, which would be ideal for groups of family travelers. As we have mentioned, please book early if you desire a family cabin, because these tend to sell out very quickly.
  • We particularly like the fact that on Deck 13, Deluxe Family Balcony Staterooms 13032- 13050 port side and 13045- 13063 starboard are arranged by the forward elevators for easy access to the children's area just above on the Epic.
  • Balcony Stateroom 13043 features an over-sized balcony.
  • On Deck 13 of the Epic, Balcony Staterooms 13236, 13238, 13247, and 13249 are larger than standard.
  • Aft on Deck 13 of the Norwegian Epic, Penthouse Suite 13295 has that highly sought, less breezy ocean view.
  • Balcony staterooms 13278- 13286 and 13287- 13292 are on either side of the Penthouse Suite, and share that beautiful aft ocean view.

Deck 14

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated by our cruise experts!

Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic is the only deck with spa accommodations. Located aft on Deck 14, spa suites and staterooms include key card access to the spa, and 24 hr. access to the Thermal Spa Suites. This deck also has the children's center located midship, and there are clusters of family cabins in this vicinity. Some of the best staterooms and suites are on Deck 14 of the Epic!

  • Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic is underneath the Lido pool areas and casual restaurants. However, the staterooms on Deck 14 have been very thoughtfully arranged so that few are directly under noise producing areas. It is possible for exterior cabins 14054- 14096 port side, 14069- 14157 starboard, and interior staterooms 14056- 14076 to have some noise issues early in the morning and late at night when staff are cleaning the pool area. You might hear the scraping of deck chairs, for example, when these are being moved around for sweeping.
  • Heading back from the forward elevators, Deluxe Family Balcony Staterooms (14036- 14052 port side and 14051- 14067 starboard) are all arranged by the children's center on Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic.
  • There are also several Family Balcony Staterooms forward and midship on Deck 14 of the Epic (14006- 14032 and 14058- 14096 port side and 14009- 14047 and 14069- 14113 starboard).
  • More aft on Deck 14 of the Norwegian Epic are the Spa accommodations, and most luxurious of all are the Spa Suites (14133- 14139 and 14145- 14151 starboard). Each is 322 sq. ft. including balcony space, and has concierge and butler services available among other perks.
  • Deluxe Spa Balcony Suites (14098- 14118 and 14153- 14171) are each 245 sq. ft. and have spa amenities.
  • On the Epic's Deck 14, Spa Balcony Staterooms (14117- 14131, 14141, and 14143), each with 216 sq. footage, are smaller but have the same spa amenities as the larger Spa accommodations.

Deck 16

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated luxury accommodations by our cruise experts!

Deck 16 on the Norwegian Epic is without question one of the two most exclusive and luxurious areas of all. This is where you will begin to find the Deluxe Owner's Suites and Courtyard Villas, all of which have exclusive access to the courtyard area and the Epic Club Lounge. Accommodations on this deck are elegantly designed!

  • Owner's Suites 16002 and 16000 each are 852 sq. ft. and have awe inspiring views of the ocean from floor to ceiling windows on Deck 16 of the Epic.
  • All other accommodations on Deck 16 of the Epic are 2 Bedroom Family Villas, each with 506 sq. footage. These are suites 16000- 16003 (forward), 16004- 16016 port side, and 16007- 16031 starboard.

Deck 17

***CruiseAdvice.org Favorite Deck ***
Highly rated luxury accommodations by our cruise experts!

Deck 17 of the Epic has several luxury suites, and offers magnificent views from the top of the ship. All accommodations feature exclusive access to the courtyard area and the Epic Club Lounge.

  • There are seven Owner's Suites on Deck 17 of the Norwegian Epic (17004, 17007, 17030, 17032, 17035, and 17033).
  • 2 Bedroom Family Villas are located port side and starboard (17010- 17028 and 17013- 17031) on Deck 17 of the Norwegian Epic.
  • Six Courtyard Penthouse Suites grace the more forward area of Deck 17 of the Epic (17002, 17005, 17006, 17008, 17009, and 17011). Each features 322 sq. footage of space.
  • On Decks 16 and 17 of the Norwegian Epic, A2 Owner's Suites, A3 2 Bedroom Family Villas, and A4 Courtyard Penthouse Suites feature an open balcony view. These suites are not most forward where you would expect an exceptionally breezy view from the topmost suite decks on ship. A5 Owner's Suites, A6 2 Bedroom Family Villas, and A7 Courtyard Penthouse Suites are located forward, and have spectacular views from air conditioned solariums.
